The Titan.
“I’ve done it! I’ve found Lord Durant!”
“Good Zeus Elane, keep it down. Lord Al’Tros Durant you say? The Lord Durant?”
The Vice Admiral shifted a pile of posters away and looked at The King’s daughter. She smiled. “Yes of course Nebula, doubted my abilities? Like always… I’m disappointed. I think the Corsair Lord is in the Bronze Sea.”
Lance Nebula almost spat out his tea. “The Bronze Sea? Really. Going where? Whitesummit?”
“Exactly.”
Lance Nebula spat out his tea. “Elane…” He sighed. “Why would a Corsair Lord leave the Marauding Sea to go to The Bronze Sea of all places. It’s practically a wasteland.”
Elane Adkins sat down on a golden chair. “To visit an Overseer? Thought that was obvious.”
“I’m sorry.” Said the Vice Admiral, who repeated it again. “I’m sorry what?”
“Overseer June. Paratiritis say she’s been heading north.”
“There aren’t any Paratiritis in Bronze. Elane please… write a report. I can read it tomorrow, but I’m busy right now.”
The young woman seemed desperate. “Oh no you aren’t. My Paratiritis. Dad gave them to me.” She smiled. “I’m confident. They’re meeting for whatever reason. And funnily enough Nebula, you’re the one I need to talk to despatch an Admiral.”
Lance stood up and walked over to a window. “Why not Kai? Or Amelia”
“Kai against an Overseer and Corsair? And Amelia is still uncontacted.”
“What Flagships do we have near?”
“Lord’s Regime… Oceanus is docked with it. Positioned closest to Othrys.”
“On there?”
“Bounty and Rank offices. We can’t afford to send Fate or Taurus. The King and The Titan are also there temporarily due to their trip to Chimera.”
“Verdi?”
“Close but we need her at Makrinaos. Locke too.”
“Then we send in a small team. A commodore and a few Paratiritis. You said you had some already within Bronze.”
“No. Too risky.”
“Then who do we send? The King? That might be our best choice.”
“We send Torres.”
Lance slammed his fist down, where a small golden shield shone. It was embedded deep into his hand. “You cannot sentence Torres to death. I will recall him to headquarters before you could even suggest that. Against a Corsair and an Overseer? Where did the Cloud Curse go? The Diamond? The Heat? We’ve lost so many Curses over the years we cannot afford to assume our enemies don’t have them. Torres would die.”
Elane stood up to face him. “And my Father could as well. We are not sending him.”
“Well then, I’ll go for the love of Olympus. I didn’t get a piece of metal hammered into me out of cowardice.”
“Consider this a command to not go, Nebula.”
“You’re my subordinate, watch your mouth girl.”
“Adkins isn’t. I’ve already sent a message to undock Oceanus and get Torres into Bronze. I just need your approval for the paperwork.”
