So I’ve been working on Briars lore a bit on my freetime, and I felt like a good place to start off would actually be to look at before her birth, and dive a little into the two most important people in her life and development…
Catalina Esperanza Duarte, De La Tormenta & Lucian Briar, the lovers who should have wished the other dead.
Catalina, a storm of rhythm and pride, She comes from a long line of performers who channeled their magic through their craft and carries that legacy with fervor. Born in Ravenna around the short era of King Octavious Ceasar she started off as a simple performer with her family, nornally travelling from kingdom to kingdom but settled down for a generation. At 19 she made the firm decision to leave the nest and begin writing her own legacy as a force that left all other storms unequalled. After 4 years she earnt her title of “De La Tormenta”, and rumor starts bubbling across the sea of her sheer power.
Thus, come in Lucian Briar, a follower of the Order of Aesir. Lucian is a quiet and introverted man, and a mostly loyal little brother. When Lucian and his brother seemingly had nothing but each other they found themselves under the wings of the Order, and the two though it a blessing. They were given a home, shelter, food, and a place to foster their magic. When the rumor started dripping into the order it seemed like an opportunity to the Briars to rise in the ranks and further prove their already stone solid loyalty, and Lucian was to hunt and capture Catalina for her power.
But the moment their magics clashes and wove like thread in their duel… Lucian’s loyalty and resolve turned to dust. The entertwining of his and her magic was gorgeous, and the look she gave him… not a face of ruthlessness or cold hunger, but a fierce challenge and fire that begged him to best her.
You could say it was love at first fight, and only snowballed from there, as they shared a union and brought to the world their only child, Melody Briar. I sure do hope nothing tragic happened to this precious famil– oooooh….. right….
