Theoretical Arcane Odyssey asym

Okay, so today, I got bored. And yall know what happens when I get bored. But, today’s different! I want you to yap alongside me!

Yall have seen a lot of asymmetrical horror games on Roblox, right? So now, why don’t we try to make one with Arcane Universe’s characters? Of course, all that isn’t real, is a joke, and you hate fun if you think this topic shouldn’t exist. Alright, all the bases are covered, now to the rules.

First, you can submit an idea of: a survivor, a killer, or a map. The supposed gameplay is just surviving for 4 minutes or killing everyone else. A kill gives 30 seconds to the timer. No objectives or something like this. Consider the average survivor’s hp to be 100, and the average killer’s hp to be 1000. You’re free to change these values to a reasonable degree. Each survivor gets 2 to 3 abilities and 1 passive. Each killer gets an m1 and 3 abilities, as well as 1 to 2 passives. Every character/location must be from AO, WoM, or AA. No OCs allowed. The characters aren’t required to be human. Go create something, dispel my boredom.

So… the survivors are trying to not die, while also having the option of trying to kill the killer? Interesting. As for maps… honestly, I’m not sure how any map would work for that sort of thing. I mean, it’d probably be entirely unlike the usual asym horror. I suppose any of the smaller islands in AO might work as maps, even if some might need to be reworked slightly, to reduce dead ends (assuming that the killers default to being faster than survivors, at least). Also, we’d need to know if the asym is intended to be AO controls (aka, including the third dimension through other means than staircases/slopes, and falling), or the more common limitation that has everyone default to walking or floating a short distance above the ground. Also, whether or not survivors regenerate, and how much damage an attack should be able to deal.

morden but evil and his eyes are bleeding

he can fly and kill everyone

Yep. As an intended mechanic and a way to win

Okay, I have to clarify this. No self-regen unless its an active ability. T-jumping and climbing isn’t allowed (unless its an ability with a long cooldown), but regular jumping is. Third person view is the default, but there are shiftlock and first person as options. For a map, there’s no need to go into details, just name it and briefly describe. For example: the Ashen Volcano’s Ruins of Charon, but bigger and with more buildings. That’s it

vetex - survivor

ability: retcons the killer and wins instantly

ancient catacombs (but slightly expanded with more hallways and such) def needs to be a map

I forgot where that was, can you remind? To the east of Mt. Seawatch?

I do wanna mention that being able to kill the killer as a legit way to win would make it a bit of a juggernaut game, they are similar to asyms with the main difference that the weaker team can defeat the big boss by working together. But I won’t be nitpicky like that lo, still pretty cool

Its not like every killer can reasonably be killed, I just left it as a mechanic for those killers whose hp could be their intended weakness

Tbh, horror doesn’t fit AO all that well

Some random ideas I got

  • Killers

- Atlantean Beast (Could have gimmicks from the Dark Sea, like casting a cloud in an area which causes Water Poisoning)

- Argos (Possibly a killer who has very limited tracking but will most likely kill you if he does find you)

- Maine (Since he’s a hunter, I imagine he could be a bit of a trapper/zoner type killer)

- Ormolu (A giant, hulking monster who is very slow but powerful, could have to rely on crystal minions and crystal walls to kill survivors)

  • Survivors

- Enizor (Could possibly be a healer or a support who slows down the killer via his snow magic)

- Iris (The stunner most likely, rushes in without much regard to her own safety)

- Delamere (A bit of a tanky, slow survivor who protects his teammates, with possibly an ability to slow down the killer)

(Ima be real I canNOT think of a possible fourth survivor concept lmao)

  • Maps

- Tiberius (Having barricaded exits to prevent survivors from escaping, it’d be a dilapidated town map)

- Redwake (I think it could be an interesting map setup, surrounding by water, obviously would need changes to the layout to work for an asym map)

- Dead Halls (An indoor map with a glimpse to the Veiling Storms outside, not sure what else to say lol)

- Mistville (While it is outdoors, it would be a bit hard to see due to the mist surrounding the sky island. Could either take in the town currently under construction, or somewhere near the Forsaken’s base)

Might add some ideas later on, who knows these are the ones I came up with on the spot

Thanks for the clarification.

I suppose a survivor idea could be Enizor. One ability creates potions, which can be healing (drinkable or thrown), damaging (thrown), or have effects like slowness, or movement speed increase. All potions being items that other survivors can pick up to use. Making potions should, obviously, have a cooldown, but I’m not sure how long of one, in rounds limited to 4 minutes. Another ability for him could be a blast (or self-explosion) of snow magic, creating a lingering snowcloud that blocks vision, and deals small amounts of damage to killers if they remain inside. The initial spell obviously deals a chunk of damage to killers in range, too. As a passive, I don’t really have a lot of ideas I like. Maybe a degree of resistance to effects that reduce visibility?

Ya know while we’re on the topic I just wanna share this: I do not believe that asym games can ever be (permanently) scary/horror. Horror games lose their scariness when you replay them over and over because you know what to expect at what point, even if it’s random you learn and remember what specific threats do what so you know exactly how they work and how to counter them. So asyms will always lose their horror feel after a couple of games because they are made to be replayable at their core

allanon could be the ‘quick movement speed’ type killer

as for survivor… im thinking revon as the ‘run/hide/provide no meaningful use to the team other than being good at fleeing’ guy because hes a coward

morovane could be either a killer or survivor, dunno which one yet but his kit would def revolve around sneaking around and doing high instant damage while being undetectable

That is true, possible to balance his quickness he could have an energy meter that depletes?

I was considering Revon but I don’t like survivalist/loner survivors because they just encourage you to NOT help your team survive whatsoever and in general are often extremely worthless, so I highly suggest not to make these kind of survivors if anyone ever makes an asym

Ooh I kinda forgot about Morovane for a hot second, honestly I think survivor fits him more, like an ambush stunner. Although you did remind me of Cazel who could be a good killer idea

me neither but every game has got to have one of them because… uhhh unique characters ig

Make Revon have like the lowest healthpool so people are discouraged from picking him (AND it makes him lore accurate) :innocent: /silly

Survivor: Laelus

Abilities: Spirit Blast, Thakrousi or whatever the first unique rite of the Tidestone Band was called. Yes, they heal him slightly* when he deals damage.

*at most 5 points of healing per hit

Passive: Laelus is loud, and immune to effects that would aid in any kind of stealth. Because there needs to be a memetically terrible survivor.
