In the fight against undead Prometheus, Theos mutates his third magic into Arcturus in one final push. It makes for an epic sendoff to his character; his intense and overwhelming anger and desperation all are released as he achieves a never-before-seen fire mutation. It makes perfect sense in the AU as well. Or, at least, it used to.
If we take into account the current lore where one has to use a hecate shard to mutate their magic and apply it to this specific scenario, then did Theos just carry around a hecate shard in his pocket the entire fight? Was it just sitting on the ground at the top of the dark spire? Why wouldn’t Theos use it earlier?
no, Theos did NOT just have a Hecate shards on hand because that’s not how mutations work
Theos’ arcturus mutation is not canon, but if we assume it is, then in lore, hecate shards are used to create new magics, mutations happen naturally.
Assuming arcturus somehow existed prior to Theos’ final stand, he likely just mutated it in the heat of the moment.
The real question with I have with Theos now is with the removal of minds, did he learn fire magic thrice for some ungodly reason or did he just learn it once and mutate it twice?
When minds were a thing and they were based on aspects of who you were it was fine for someone to get the same magic more than once cause that could just happen. But minds aren’t a thing anymore and you can just learn any base magic you want, so what’s up with people who have multiple of the same magics?
