As the title says, since one thing I’ve recently realised is that people generally can’t discuss ideas for arcane odyssey in a less serious manner compared to talking about a suggestion in the category of the same name.
Now the reason I wanted to bring this up is that suggestions are expected to be: neat, well written and thought out, and realistic for the game’s direction, now if I wanted to talk about a random idea I had without the risk of the post being closed I’d have to abide by those standards for talking about a simple idea.
My proposal is to add an “ideas” category that allows users to discuss ideas that they have in a more social manner where the expectations aren’t as high, since some people may understand that their ideas won’t be seen by the development team unless the idea is posted in suggestions, but they may still want to talk about it, but currently if someone was to do so, other forum users will make comments on said idea and treat it to the standard set by the suggestions category.
Said “ideas” category would clarify to users that anything in the category won’t be considered when posting suggestions in the discord channel, this would help prevent confusion as to why posts in the category aren’t ever considered.
This is exactly what I’d want to see, that way I don’t get an influx of comments all saying “why is this not in suggestions” or something along those lines, despite me not expecting to have may suggestion to be considered, like why restrict discussion of the game that this forum is about?
We never really “disallowed” ideas. The issue stems from ideas being incredibly difficult to phrase in a way that isn’t a suggestion. I also tend to believe that suggestions can change while they’re still “active”. Ideas to improve a suggestion, criticisms, etc, can be handled in the suggestions replies.
I don’t really want to add more tags unless I really need to. I’ll chuck a poll on here to gauge interest.
