Do you think that three seconds of stackable, almost-true (very slightly transparent) blindness is worth being used in PVP (and soon in PVE)?
I haven’t seen any discuss them despite how good they might be in a PVP setting with how they provide instantaneous blindness without having to make use of light magic.
Since it stacks, my thoughts is that they would be paired best with classes that have at least one good multi-hit option (mage for their pulsar and javelin, strength builds for their selino).
Synergels make you inflict more damage while these would allow you to take less and stop your opponent from running reliably.
I guess that it depends on the playstyle that’s being used, but blinding gels are also far cheaper to produce (unless you’re using low quality synergels).
Do warriors have synergies by the way? If not, blinding gels might be the warrior gel.
yeah but i’m saying if i had to choose between a blinding gel or a damaging gel i’d pick the damaging gel
nah not rly i don’t think they blind enough to stop ur opponent from still seeing where u are
only exception is if u have a move like pulsar or fury of the sea
but a gel to make one move stronger aint as good as a synergy gel which makes every move stronger
synergy gels can apply slowing effects so nah they’re still better in that department
they can apply bleed, soaked, charred, burning, and poison depending on weapons i think
One, blinding gels don’t last long enough nor are they potent enough to be anything more than an annoyance to anyone affected by them. Like Onion said, for it to be really effective one would need to land a quick multi-hit move, like a grab or Beast Instinct.
Two, there are just plain better gels out there.
Not quite. The way Arcane Odyssey’s combat works, no visual/mobility impairment can really be defined as “reliable”. For the reasons stated above, blinding gels are no where near as potent as they’d need to be for them to be a genuine problem. Not only that, you actually have to land attacks for the gel effect to proc, and most people will punish you on reflex the second they see you cast a skill- regardless of whether you’ve landed blindness or not.
So, it’s pretty much entirely useless, except for some specific scenarios. Even in those scenarios, synergy gels and pure damage boosting gels are just better in every way. Also, because of how long the effect lasts, you’d really be better of using ironskin or slowness to slow down runners rather than using blindness.
this depends on your magic. Hot and cold magics probably have the easiest synergy materials out there, while heavy magics are a bit more specific. Power gels are excluded, since they’re absolutely the most expensive gels when it comes to stat boosts.
imo, poison and acid gels are better for warrior, but ive definitely considered running perfect blindness gels in the past
it’s probably better to run insta-stun gels though, at least for wars (t5 freezing, the electric one and the charring one)
blinding kinda stinks . idk if you guys know this but the light blind isnt actually all that effective at disorienting your enemy unless youre really aggressive or are playing with a lot of multihits its mainly just for self synergy
