As we all know horses are planned to be added later in the game. But since we also will be getting flight will there be a point to get horses if we can…fly? I mean yeah we need to recharge magic energy but at the same time what is the point of using a horse when you can just fly over all terrain and not have to deal with any NPCs…thoughts?

Slower magic users will benefit a lot from horses, since magic speed effects flight speed so whilst light users will enjoy flight, its more likely iron and gold users etc will enjoy horses more.

Flight spells will come at the same time as horses due to the cap for the update being 150, horses won’t cost magic energy (you’d need to charge constantly when flying) so they’d be much more convenient, and as said above slow magic users wouldn’t fly very fast so horses may be faster.

But I mean at the same time you wont be able to go straight to the point you want to go since I doubt the horses will be able to climb up the taller ledges so you’d end up having to take the paths, whereas with flying you can just go over all terrain so like idk. And even if slower magics will go slower there are magic speed buffs that they could use to fly faster ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I’m hyped for horses. They’ll make traveling the world easier. Magma flight will probably be slower than running (when charge times are considered) so I feel like flight might not have much use for slow magic users, but I could be wrong.
Not everyone would want a magic speed build.

You could have those items in your inventory and then when you go to travel you equip them and then unequip them when you’re done traveling.
That would take too much effort.
For you maybe, but other people who use the slower magics and want to be able to fly at reasonable speeds could use that as a way to fly effectively. I mean I’m using shadow which isn’t slow and I was planning to do that already.
I don’t really think horses belong in a game like world of magic

It would likely land you in trouble if you encountered an enemy that could fly faster than you.
Even if we obtain flight that is at level 150 so horses can still be used for low lvl transport or long distance transport because flight still consumes mana, whereas horses run forever

Except that a flight spell (unless somehow having a higher level makes it faster) is incredibly fast, probably (as we don’t have any footage of horses) much faster than horses, and you can recharge your magic energy in seconds anyway.
Also, for anyone who was already at max level before the horse update, they could reach level 150 30 levels later. It would be cool if horses came out before the update introducing level 150 as it’s already kind of a chore to travel from ironport to Summer Hold and those aren’t even far on the map.

Flight spells are a thing
as some people have said, horses most likely will be of great benefit for those with slow magics while those with fast magics may not need horses. all in all, ill be getting a horse regardless of how fast my fly is
