Most of the time completely dogshit, sometimes peak to read (I’ve only found maybe 1 or 2 that I liked)
one of them is Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality because I like it when there is a weak protag who becomes strong.
I think there was a famous cultivation novel, it was smth like reverend insanity. From what I heard the protagonist, to achieve immortality, kills the entire universe or something along the lines of that.
İts a pretty eenjoyable genre i say reoccuring things might bore you at times tho

i dont actually get what its meant to be
that is a HUGE part in why I think a lot of them are shit and gems are so damn rare. In fact its the same for manhwas and even the others like manhuas and mangas. It’s not that the east isn’t good at making literature since they 100% are but its just that the top priority of the publishers is to feed slop to the masses. I can eat slop but I feel so tired when I can’t find anything good to read. I should just buy series I know will be good from time to time instead of always living the pirate life and finding no treasure.
Sorry for the rant this bugs me so much. You could ask anyone that reads stuff like manga and they will rant just as much as I did.

the cultivation genre is like sifting through shit and looking for gems. there’s definitely some gems in the shit but there’s alot of shit. the power system of cultivation varies alot but depending on whether or not the novel is written well, you can understand the power structure in the verse easily. it’s unfortunate that a lot of them rely on the mc starting with a fortuitous encounter with X person or X manual or fruit. Or with the increasing popularity of systems clogging the toilet and creating more shit with each title becoming even worser.

it’s such a loser way to get stronger, you’re pretty much being handed shit no matter what you do. i think it’s way cooler for the mc to just make himself more famous so that more good stuff comes his way using the matthew effect in this case

its like this genre where people absorb magic from the air and basically make a metaphorical garden to grow stronger as they “cultivate” more. its really popular in china as i think its called xianxia as its more fantastical and mythological

From the ~600 manga i have totally read (500 of which im currently reading), a lot of it (atleast 80%) is straight garbage. Like its usually not even garbage that knows it bad (which makes it fun to read. Eminence in shadow is a good bad manga). If you read fantasy then you know how bad the kirito epidemic among manga is.
Half of the time the only reason i start a manga now is because the protagonist is unique (Pro tip: this usually means better manga).

tbh its the only cultivation manhwa i actually remember reading (mightve read more during like 2021-2020 but forgot) but i really love how much in depth the martial arts goes and how it represents the self rather than just being a flashy tool that makes you strong (like in Suicide Hunter’s Heavenly Demon arc too but that one i wouldnt really count as cultivation)
