yeah, I feel that having a good sense of how to reproduce is the most important part. Plenty of times where I’ve fixed something yet had 0 clue what was actually happening until after i already fixed it. Every part helps, but know the sequence is probably whats going to end up helping the bug get fixed the fastest.
and quelling your expectations is going to be another good thing, there is a good chance that most bugs are just some simple timing errors causing an issue, or something not responding because its not checking for multiple scenrios.
TBH, it’s probably a good move for a tester to always be recording, it just makes their process easier:
something breaks → go through your recording and try to reproduce your steps. aka, a tester needs to have a good enough computer and storage to keep a good amount of videos.
You’ll still have fun, but I just hope most people expect to be applying to fill in as a tester because they want to actually test features, and not apply to play with them.
^ if you do not find this kind of work fun you are going to have a miserable time. keep medal on at all times and dont publish your clips publically. i had a lot of fun doing this in the past but it not for everybody (especially if you arent ready to play super unbalanced stuff)
it works for me bro. obs takes up a lot of storage space constantly recording and not everyone has an nvidia graphics card. sometimes its nice to press f8 and immediately save the last 15 seconds, even though it comes at a ram cost
You will have your files broken multiple times. You will have to go through the nightmare that is event testing. You will annoy Galaga (Likely due to either of the first two). You will find unfinished, unpolished stuff.
There’s a couple people who I think you could label as ‘PvP focused’ but I think that number’s been reduced since a recent purge (of inactive testers) a few weeks ago. The testers I see the most are the ones who test whatever’s been added recently or is currently in need of testing, but ofc that could be because the PvP focused testers don’t hop on TU as much.
Testers get access to the tester-specific channels in the discord server along with the test universe and bug tickets made within the discord server.
Their main roles are to test new content for bugs and to provide feedback on said content. Optionally dealing with bug tickets comes with it’s own reward system.
