Proposal

As of now, clans are currently a bit too PvP heavy. When the clan building update eventually drops, it’s going to heavily support the PvP community who have big and powerful clans while not benefitting the clans who aren’t focused as much on PvP. Especially since clans might show up that aren’t as focused on the PvP side of things, I have a single suggestion; make it so that the amount of time a clan has existed can impact the benefits it provides.

Details/background on your proposal

In this idea, we replace the current “New” clan tag with “Unknown”. Now, clans have two rank words- a word to represent their infamy as is already in the game, and a word to represent the total playtime for players while they were part of the clan. So, for example, a clan that was just created will be titled as a “New Unknown Clan”. Clan infamy gains/losses are based on how much infamy you already have as normal, while the clan bank size would be moved (at least partially) to the time based system.

To be more specific with how the time based system works, when you join a clan the game will keep track of your playtime while you were part of it. This playtime is added to the total playtime for the clan, and as the clan reaches certain milestones they’ll rank up their time title- which is completely separated from their infamy title. It’s impossible to lose clan playtime, meaning any benefits it gives will be permanent- even if the clan loses all of its infamy. From there, letting the clan bank size be determined by both your time rank and infamy rank means that the players who want to participate in clans without having much in the way of PvP skill still have means to do so, and to interact with the clan building system for its benefits.

To get into the finer details as the game is now, currently your clan’s bank size is determined by your clan’s infamy rank. I suggest moving all of those capacity increases onto playtime, and having infamy ranks grant additional bank space. As a result of this, there need to be 8 time ranks to fit the current clan bank expansions.

Those ranks are as follows:

New Clan: 0 Hours Total Clan Playtime
Recent Clan: 30 Hours Total Clan Playtime
Inexperienced Clan: 150 Hours Total Clan Playtime
Established Clan: 500 Hours Total Clan Playtime
Experienced Clan: 1200 Hours Total Clan Playtime
Veteran Clan: 2500 Hours Total Clan Playtime
Venerable Clan: 5000 Hours Total Clan Playtime
Exalted Clan: 8000 Hours Total Clan Playtime
The exact numbers can be tweaked as needed. I didn’t want to make them too absurd, but it might be reasonable to boost them w hen clans can have hundreds of players and all of their playtime contributes.

Additionally, there’s the bonuses to clan bank size based on your infamy rank.

Those bonuses are:

Fresh Clan: No Bonus
Rookie Clan: +5000 Bank Limit
Average Clan: +15000 Bank Limit
Strong Clan: +40000 Bank Limit
Superior Clan: +100000 Bank Limit
Powerful Clan: +200000 Bank Limit
Supreme Clan: +500000 Bank Limit
Legendary Clan: +1000000 Bank Limit
These limit boosts are not additive. You replace the old one with the new one as your Infamy rank increases.

Note that since clans no doubt have a lot of money in their clan banks now, if this change is implemented the clans that already exist should be given a temporary storage to hold any Galleons over their limit. This storage can only be withdrawn from, and will automatically drain into the main bank if space is made available.

Reason to add/change

The way I see it, this accomplishes two things: firstly, clans don’t have to participate in PvP nearly as much for the people who don’t want to. Clans still will have to participate for the cases where their islands are under threat of being captured, but infamy wouldn’t be the number one goal for clans gaining power.

As a result of the first, it makes clans a more welcoming environment for the PvE folks, and makes it easier for them to engage with the clan building system when it comes out- if the benefits are largely towards passive buffs to the PvE or non PvP content then it stands to reason that the non PvP-ers would want to interact with the systems.

My reasoning for the time to be based on total playtime within the clan is so that a clan with multiple players will go through the ranks faster. If that wasn’t the case, you could have clans with a single dude who rarely plays the game but has a maximum time tier clan if the clan time was based on total time of clan existence instead.

Too abusable, people could afk to gain playtime for their clan and the clan playtime number wouldn’t really represent how successful a clan is. Besides I believe Vetex wants infamy to be more pvp-focused
