Tiny Question about Spirit Route

Something I’ve noticed so far is that :

  • Magic Stat focuses on a zoner playstyles.
  • Strength Stat encourages rush-downs and melee playstyle.
  • Weapon is capable of switching between both melee and ranged while offering a versatile playstyle that allows people to adapt.

What kind of playstyle does Spirit fall into, exactly ? Initially, it’s supposed to be a “tanky” playstyle, but with its rework, what do you guys think ?

Well… Is very strong in melee playstyle. But he have so low attack range

Spirit is a brawler

Well, Spirit has :

  • Spirit Blast
  • Spirit Hound
  • Spirit Rain
  • Spirit Shockwave
  • Spirit Barrage
  • Flomva
  • Aithoro
  • Thalakyma
  • Nichtethesis

All of which are ranged options which arent terrible at all, so I don’t think that’s the case.

Then what makes Strength Builds then.. ? It’s clear they have distinct playstyles.

being terrible

Bruh, you dont played on Oracle.
Blast - Slow and small
Spirit Hound - broken hitbox
Spirit Raint - This is self spell
Spirit shockwave - this is not a range attack, 2/3 from magic explosion distance
Spirit Barrage - Array, but worse
Flomva - Really? REALLY? Nice joke
Aithoro - Okay, this FIRST normal range spell
Thalakyma - Bad weapon.
Nichtethesis - 2/3 from Ileg shot range

Strength Build is a High movement zoner

Spirit Blast is still a staple ranged ability.
What does Spirit Hound*s broken hitbox has to do with it not being ranged.
Spirit Rain IS a self-AoE spell, but its radius and reach as well as zone potential makes it a good tool for zoning.
Spirit Shockwave is a placed-AoE spell, aka ranged..
Spirit Barrage IS array but worse, but it’s still ranged
Nichtethesis is almost instant and have good range for a laser spell

Even if the aforementioned ranged spells from Spirit aren’t the best at zoning, they’re still ranged/zoning tools, so I wouldn’t say Spirit has an attack range problem.

…have you actually played spirit?? Its mid range at best

Yea, but you can use Blast only in melee fight, like others spells. If you try use is range fight, your opponent can easy dodge this(He need just press A/D for one sec)

Spirit is best for melee fight, because you have Eagle Patriomy, Aithoro and Flomva(This is MID/MELEE SKILL)

True, oracle is more melee-mid fight

No.. But I have friends who play Oracle, which is why I’m asking others to get more insight.

I personally think Spirit Route focuses on a more defensive playstyle with its various built-in defensive measures such as : Barrier, Slowness, Projectile Block, Get-Off-Me Tools, Resistance..

Thanks for the inputs !

just saying that there arent really global playstyles in mind when designing new skills afaik, which is why a couple of new spells are literally only melee focused.
im not saying its wrong to draw conclusion and say that mage, given its current skills, is more of a zoner, but im saying that at any point it could be a lot more diverse in the future. i would say the same thing for berserker, except… designing ranged techniques (or frankly just techniques in general) is a LOT more limited. itd be hard to get it out of a close range mindset when its literally punching.

Barrier dont work with 1/2 chance. You have warrior movement with big melee dmg, i tried play for defense, but you cant. :stuck_out_tongue:

True.. I understand that.

I’m just a little surprised at how vague Spirit’s playstyle is compared to the other Routes which focuses more on one aspect of combat (Mage for range, Strength for rushing down, Weapons for versatility..)

Because, other than the aesthetics, why would anyone go Spirit without it offering at least something ?
Weapons have a wide range of options that allows it to lego-around with its playstyle, Magic is in general good for control and ranged damage, while Strength focuses primarily on CQC to either Poise-break or shut them down

Btw mage is basically a brawler with lost and rare spells

Rip-off mage

There was no playstyle thought behind it. It just does this.
