I used this trick when making a concept for an alternative cannonball selection UI, and it can be applied anywhere for people who like to create UI concepts, or just struggle when trying to find a font that looks like the one used in AO.
The following example is settings in photoshop, but i’d imagine other software has the same sort of settings or text FX.
