Been grinding out charting on a completely new slot for the past few days, reached lvl 8 a bit ago, but kinda lacking motivation and just want to be done with it as soon as possible. So any tips for speeding it up?
get negative renown and sink any banker ship you see
they give a crazy amount of chests which can give a good amount of charts, and dealing with the golden ones is as easy as regular gnavy ships
don’t really bother with focussing on one specific chart and just do whichever one is closest, since every spot gives the same xp no matter the rarity
also if you don’t have darkness tier 2, get it. it’s really useful for finding chart spots and sometimes the ghosts spawn almost immediately so you don’t even have to waste time digging around

ideally you do multiple of these things at once:
- pirate hunting/ship sinking:
gives normal chests, which give charts - diving points/ship crashes (NOT sea charts)
fast to loot, easy to spot, good chance to find a chart straight up floating in the water - general island looting
nice to remember some chest-rich spots and quickly run over them at random, Bronze Sea is pestered with small islands that hide 10-15 chests within a couple dashes
special mention for limestone, which has 5 inside underwater cave+3 near statue+5 near the sunk ship+5 secret=total 18 chests within a minute - bounty hunting normal criminals (NOT minibosses)
hunting one can give a rare+ chart, if its your rival it is GUARANTEED (i think) to give a rare+ chart, which is +3 or more chart spots you can clear
allat while you sail along islands doing the charts
it WILL take a while either way, professions were intended to span over your entire playthrough, not to be grinded in a day
