Self-explanatory. When within a certain radius of a tornado (likely when the ship is making direct contact with the tornado model), there could be a chance for 1 or 2 crewmates to be sucked up into the tornado. While they are functionally dead, they will do the animation a player does when sucked up into a tornado (I.E. spinning around and floating up). This change would largely be used for comedic effect (and a bit of immersion), and could optionally prioritize non-deckhand crewmates (at least until there aren’t any left).
Additionally, this event could be accompanied by unique filler text, either from the victim or from your other crewmates. Examples below:
Victim
“Help meeeeee!”
“Stop! Come back! I’ve been caught in a tornado!” (You can’t help them)
“Aaaaaah!”
Witness
“That person just went straight up!”
“If I stop holding on, I’ll be next!”
“What a terrible way to die…”
Reasoning
At the current moment, other than lightning strikes and other ships, there isn’t anything in the dark sea that can kill crewmates. It’s meant to be seen as a dangerous place, to the point where being able to survive in the later layers with your crew intact is the hallmark of a true captain. While this feature is being suggested is primarily for its comedic value, there is a practical side in making the achievement harder to get (and, in theory, more satisfying).
Actually I really like this idea. We could spice things up with it. They could also get a visible status effect like if they get suck up buy, let’s say a fire tornado they would get on fire.
Acid melts them, wind sends them flying, earth places a big rock where they used to be with a bloody stain under it, ice freezes them and the tornado blows them into little shards, glass just turns them into red mist, etc.
new suggestion: sky fish; infuenced by magic energy, these fish go and attack skyships and eat clouds for food, using the winds to move, having fins like sails (able to be fished)
