wish stat points and trees could be added to give a sense of progression but
Leviathan??
Wait… does this mean that Minotaur X Exiled ships are no more?!
…cthulhu?
Yes, they are no more (finally)
You should make a request post on the forums for some last and first names people would like.
The scorched earth approach to this update is really worrying honestly. I think a number of things could have been kept and reworked or even added onto rather than simply removed.
I think Cultures were a cool idea and could have been nice if expanded upon. Let players actually pick them, and give a brief overview in what each is better at (while expanding upon their differences.) That’s just a thought on my end of course, but I really think that would have been fun. Allow for further differentiation of characters out of the gate through player choice.
The random quest system is /was pretty lacking, but just adding more handcrafted content on top would have been fine, and allow the random content to continue to act as a diversion for quick grinding with an objective.
The biggest thing is definitely the map though, I’m not partial to a large continent but I will say that the islands and boats were my absolute least favorite part of Arcane. It felt boring and like I was just waiting to go back to playing the game, it felt disconnected. If boats are at least relatively quick, and islands aren’t a country mile away then this shouldn’t be a big issue. But I would honestly rather walk through 50 seconds of forest with random enemies and engaging in the gameplay I signed up for, than spend 2 minutes doing something else on a ship.
A lot of this update seems to remove the more living dynamic aspects of WoM. And while I understand that some of them were pretty problematic (npcs), it still feels like a lot. The general uprooting of so much is a bit disheartening. I feel that this almost should have been a separate game entirely. Changing the name really doesn’t help that feeling.
Just to end on a positive note, I do appreciate the move to add a stronger story, I hope that there is some focus on creating memorable characters in both design and story. While I do think I’ll miss the previous npc system, it is true that the performance of the game currently suffers a bit, so I really can’t say the change is bad. I also, in spite of my traversal worries, do look forward to seeing the new locales and hope they have some fun variety to them. Good luck with the revamp!
thank god (ten chars)
Please, PLEASE tell me teleport spells aren’t being added. Wait…SUPER SPEED?
Also, you could just nerf flight spells so that players can’t just fly to the next island. OR, make flight spells at like, level 2000 or somethin
rip my future horse (gregory)
Vetex my boi
You’re still adding flaunt though right?
…megalodon?
This is…okay. Personally I never wanted this game to turn into basically just a buffed up version of AA but I guess that’s what’s happening. I really liked how this new game was more land based and wasn’t such a pain to get from one island to another by hopping in a boat, hopping out of a bout, hopping in the boat again, etc. Cultures also were very cool, I don’t know anyone that dislikes them and personally I feel like they should remain. Everyone in my guild including myself and my friends were also really looking forward to flight, being able to soar through the sky with a trail of your magic behind you looked amazing, I really wish that remained. The bosses and boss weapons I believe should also remain however I have to agree the story is pretty damn boring. As for transportation I just wanted to see something like a carriage or horse riding, would’ve been awesome to had fights while on the move. So far this whole idea left me a bit disappointed as you might as well just remake AA at this point, sure some things and new features look great but I feel like the negatives outweigh the positives. It is going to feel like we are simply playing the same old game again if we really switch to all of these features more in the favour of AA. The new name is pretty good though and I like it, as for everything else, to be honest you might as well just copy and paste what you have now and turn it into Arcane Odyssey while having world of magic become its own stand alone game. Don’t take what I said to heart I’ve just voiced mine as well as my friends’ and guild member’s opinions.
hopefully vetex can combine these ideas while considering performance and the ability to code it
course im probably neglecting a bunch of other features/problems that vetex has already thought of so
…how about GODZILLA-
I smell sharks, OH BOY
This is kinda sad because i like killing innocents.
Tbh I’m really excited for tgr, but I’m not gonna lie, I’m slightly disappointed at the time period change and how the map will become completely islands. I like how world of magic had a lot of things to see when you traveled from place to place. But at the same time, I am a bit biased towards World of Magic compared to Arcane Adventures as I never got to experience playing it.
I’m a bit confused as to what will happen to the already existing and implemented cultures as the Castilians would still not exist and the Alaleans and Vistarians would still be in the 3rd and 2nd sea.
Also how would the magic system work? Are mutations coming back as this isn’t 1000 years into the future? If so, what would happen to the 23 starter magics? Also what would happen to magics like glass, paper, and ink?
Regardless, I’m excited for what you’ll do Vetex!
FActs 11 year old me loved that game to hell
im a legendary hero and i dunno why i liked this-
