Trading & Market Inflation Issue Poll/Discussion

Eventually, it would. But I feel the example answers your question of why someone would find trade to be useful; it gets you the things you want sooner rather than later.

That would be idealistic……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

……….

….

……………..-But some of these items are worth MUCH more than their trade window drach pricetag. It is a huge bit of wishful thinking that would in reality just make people not use the player marketplace. As it is, prices are insanely unstable, what with things being priced well above and below their actual values.

The eventually is a very short time that I feel like it’s pointless to blame the market system instead of whether you have time to grind or not or if the grind itself is fair.

It’s not like the traders just obtained a bunch of stuff quickly in a way that is impossible for others now, you can very well get it yourself in the exact same way with time.

If you can tell that the prices are bad then just don’t buy it, I’m willing to bet that if the price you imagined for an item is actually fair then someone directly from discord or the forums would be willing to sell you that item for that much.

Again, you really aren’t forced to buy any of the items and people treating it like they are doesn’t make sense to me at all.

Either way, IMO there isn’t a real good way to balance or force prices. Best idea would be to make fleets use it’s own drachma like the clan building which would easily balance the issues we apparently have.

The point of a marketplace is for players to be able to buy stuff at a price other players are willing to sell it for. If the max price is way lower than the actual price of the item, then people will just not post offers. If people don’t post offers for stuff in the marketplace, what is even the point of the convenience?

Yeah that whole confusion is exactly why I hate the market place, you can’t force costs or else it’s useless and if you don’t then the prices might be too high to be realistic.

It’s pretty much why I tell people to just grind the items they need, The people putting those unfair prices are people who did the grind themselves, if you don’t like it which who would right? just grind it yourself. It’s not worth relying on at all and at least for a game like AO it never will be reliable.

Just tried grinding for a single armor piece that comes from thanes for 6 hours and got literally nothing but everything else they can drop (except the cape) and that was with luck 3. I want to commit genocide on an entire small nation right now. Is regularly going through this kind of RNG-based torture preferable to a variably price capped marketplace? Part of me is actually wondering if the devs disabled the drops for the chest and cape pieces for no reason without saying anything, because genuinely how can one person be so impossibly unlucky? This is exactly the moment I would use the market except uh-oh, some fucko listed the only one on the market for A MILLION DRACHMA! If it’s not obvious I’m not in a good state of mind for calm discussion sorry.

The drop rates are obviously rigged, That or the dev who coded them is truly in a new league of incompetence or evil.

Also don’t worry thou, you shouldn’t need to baby talk any problems you have with the game 24/7.

God at the very least I swear this game NEEDS a drop pity system that just gives you the items you haven’t obtained yet after a while. I want to kill myself. I have been wanting to kill myself for hours. I will continue to do so for the next 12 at least.

alright… maybe not go onto self hard for that :sob:

Well, it’s the second time this happened very recently hence the stronger reaction. The first was about 3 or 4 hours grinding for the goofy weapons from the grey ones also with luck 3 cauldrons. Got enough accessories to fill a clothing store and a grand total of 5 weapons, 2 of which were copies since the grey ones only have 3 weapons. Did I mention that I was also grinding half that time with another player that also had luck 3 and that’s the result between the two of us both getting drops at the same time?

Marketplace is just neat when the game refuses to give you the aventurines you are looking for.

i once saw them on the market, the bank was right next to me, i got the drachmae they wanted, aventurine no longer available to buy, like 1 single minute of me noticing it available

Oof that’s certainly a market moment. Anyway I know at least one person earlier was talking about how rare drops were a big part of the issue with inflation and were hurting the game. Honestly I couldn’t agree more and wrote up a suggestion about it. Here’s the link for those of you that want it!

In totally unrelated news I finally got a singular staff of night. Just took me like over 20 Dusk kills across my different saves.
