I remember vetex mentioning this either on his Twitter or on the discord but I can’t find it in eithe place, and it sounds exactly like what you’re thinking, there would likely have to be some limitations but it could be cool that you can almost combine two attacks into one like a metal blast boosted by a light beam or smth
“Q: Will there be any combination skill for magics?
A: Yeah, that could be something that will be added in the future.”
This is from the QnA and it could also be interpreted as a combination melee skill, but shooting two spells or two different magics at once sounds cooler
imagine the synenergy combos
shooting 2 spells as one seems like a late game thing but shooting 2 magics at once just doesnt make much sense.
however there could be a very very late game thing where casting spells wont be prevented by another spell casting, so you could cast multiple spells in quick succession
It was in the QnA video.
shadow and light: the poor mans equinox magic
or just singularity casting speed amulet
how so? ;-;
makes some sense to fire off a fire and water spell to make steam to blind/ use as cover for an escape, use a lightning and water spell to power up both elements at the same time, etc.
for a game like ao it wouldnt
how would u be meant to fire spells from 2 different magics at the same times anyways
It does sound like that will not happen honestly, I doubt using two magics at once will be added just because the status effect should last long enough to use a second magic on them.
oh you meant in a game mechanical way
i imagine it wouldn’t be too complicated in theory but difficult in practice and what not in terms of adding it to the game. when it especially could be time used elsewhere
probably have a global cd like thing where the two spells appear in both tools i.e
both lightning and water for the “r” slot would show and appear as having both spell modifications and the like.
you’d be able to customize the individual spells based on what magic ur currently editing i.e if i’m in lightning i can edit the lightning spell using a dual mode but not be able to touch the water one and vice versa.
there’d also be the added checkmark like whether u want it to be a ultimate spell or whatever that appears at the specific req that u can tie both spells from whatever second/ third magic ur trying to connect on that specific key. ex:
i make a lightning blast thats 70% in size on my r and then make a 100% size water blast on my r as well. check the mark with wanting to combine 2 r spells and boom they’d occur at the same time in theory and what not.
explaining this on the fly so might not be comprehensive but should get a general gist of what i’m trying to say.
not trying to suggest that vetex should add this either btw ;-;
whether smth like this is considered seriously and may be added is whatever and neat by that point
i’m just trying to explain the possible thought process behind the entire concept should it be taken seriously and what it would vaguely look like
If it was the same spell like a blast for example it could be a lost spell where one of the customization options is the magics you are casting together, of course one of the magics has to be the magic it was binded to, so it’s not bad
what if
binding 2 magics to arcanium weapons
I imagine it kinda like this:
you use a 4 blast spell which alternates between two magics, lets say fire and plasma.
the first blast is a fire magic blast, then the next is a plasma blast, then back to fire, and then plasma again.
Basically: fire, plasma, fire, plasma
Now that I think about it, it’s entirely possible that he meant two magics being casted at once instead of two spells.
Conjurers will be able to infuse their magic into a weapon to bring about new effects like for example: Fire + Sunken Sword creates steam visual effects while applying Burning (I think he said it’d apply Burning), and then Ice + Sunken Sword instantly applies the Frozen status effect while presumably having frosty air, snow, or ice visual effects.
If Conjurers can do it then he might make it so Mages can too, especially since he can just copy and paste the visual effects
this entire system is amazing and wild
It’s a pretty cool idea, but with so many magics I hope it doesn’t overwhelm vetex
