I met a Tryhard Legendary Hero once I tried helping him with Dark Wizards but there were bounty hunters when I dwfended himself he tried attacking me but then lost 2 times
Actually what I meant is random killers who attack groups then call them teamers if they fight back… when the whole reason these random killers are fighting against a group is because they started it
Like would you raid the Silent Tower then ragequit while screaming teamer when you die because, surprisingly, there’s more than one soldier there. Basically that but with players.

The insult is based more on trying TOO hard
But… why wouldn’t you try hard in a game if you want to win? Why is it wrong to want to do good against other players?

Oh, one more thing. Have you ever come across a tryhard before? No offense but it sounds like you haven’t. I’ve met (and ran away from) plenty ;~; some will chase me from summerhold all the way to ironport.

I get why they are called like that, I don’t get how it’s an insult.

It’s the same reason that I don’t understand why people get called tryhards for doing well in a game like TF2; yeah, you might be in a casual lobby, but why shouldn’t someone try hard to win? If winning is how they have fun, then why should it matter?
As far as I know, a tryhard is something different. I learned of the term while playing league years ago and my friend explained those are the type of people who grind game after game without attempting to get better, be respectful or anything else, they just need the Ws to get to plat or whatever.
A typical league tryhard would go about their day something like this:
- wake up at 11 and start league
- queue up for a blind pick ranked match (that one where you just pick a champ and play, no position picking)
- lock in the most meta champ and spam “mid or feed”
- if they don’t get mid they leave matchmaking
- start the game, yell “kys” at the enemy team every time they die
- flame their team members when they think they might lose
- if losing, spam surrender or rage quit the game
- repeat until they actually win games and attempt to climb ranks
- repeat until late in the night
Basically, they aren’t actually good or are trying to improve. They need to win, and if they don’t it’s your fault. Instead of trying to get better, they scream profanities at others and try to brute force their way to their goal, be it plat in league or a high PK in WoM.
So, if you are actually trying to improve you aren’t really a tryhard. If you are good and spam “ez ez ez” when you win you are no tryhard but just an asshole.
That’s about what I know of the actual meaning of the word. It very likely got distorted and is used as an umbrella term for many types of players you don’t like as an insult.
