Tyrant Crabs
Huge armored crustaceans that are resistant to magic attacks
A Tyrant crab is formed when a batch of king crab eggs drifts into the dark sea. When the king crabs hatch, due to the corruption of the seawater, they will begin to consume each other until the strongest one remains, which is where they get ‘tyrant’ from. They like to disguise themselves as large stones on island shores, and only go further inland to lie eggs, which look like gold coins and can be used by the parents to lure in prey for their children. A nest of tyrant crabs is very dangerous, and it is said that they are normally ‘ruled’ by a large female. In combat, even smaller tyrant crabs are dangerous as their exoskeletons are highly resistant to both magic and physical attacks, with the strongest ones even being able to deflect and possibly reflect magic attacks. Continuous attacks, however, can weaken the exoskeleton and break it, exposing its soft body beneath. Their meat is extremely tasty. There is the possibility of small, undamaged portions of the exoskeleton being used to make weapons and armor.
Reason to add tyrant crabs
I feel that the shores of dark sea islands are often empty, save for the occasional boar or bear. I feel like an exciting new, strong enemy that calls the shores its home would pose a new challenge to players who also agree with this thought.
Note: A tyrant crab wouldn’t just be a bigger king crab. Due to dark sea corruption, its claws would widen along with the increased magic resistance mentioned earlier, and they would almost work as a shield to protect against attacks to the facial area.
