AO has a lot of different options for fashion which the player can choose from. From hoods, to capes to whole sets of armour, there are basically infinite options.
Do you know what there aren’t infinite options for? Accessories that actually fit well on your avatar without clipping with everything.
This is especially an issue with a lot of the armour that changes your avatar’s body package. This is most noticeable with armband and bracelet accessories, since those can often get completely covered by certain armour sets.
Another example, the hood items themselves look pretty cool. However if the player uses any kind of hair, it will often just completely clip through the hood, but disabling hair also looks pretty bad on a lot of characters, and often makes them feel somewhat empty.
That is why I’m suggesting a vanity item size and position slider.
To access these sliders, the player would have to go to the vanity selection screen in their inventory. There they will find a new button, labelled ‘Advanced’.
(behold, my bad concept art skills)
Upon clicking this button, a new UI will open with the various sliders, covering the inventory. Along with this, the accessory slots will get a green overlay which allows the player to select the specific item they want to modify.
Slider 1, size. This slider will go from 80% to 120%, effectively allowing the player to make an item up to 20% larger or smaller if they so choose. This will probably be one of the most used sliders, so putting it on the top of the list would probably make it most eye-catching for newer players.
Slider 2, x position. A slider that changes the x position of an item on your avatar. It would move the item sideways if you’re looking at your character from the front. The values wouldn’t be very high for the positive and negative. Could be in percentages or studs, but I can’t give precise boundaries for obvious reasons. (I don’t feel like measuring things ingame)
Slider 3, y position. Quite self-explanatory. This slider allows the player to move items up or down. This slider would again have relatively small boundaries, but potentially a bit higher and lower than x position, considering this would be the most commonly used slider after having changed the size of an item.
Slider 4, z position. A positive value would move items towards the camera if you’re looking at your avatar from the front, and negative values would move it away from the camera. This would probably have similar boundaries compared to the x position slider.
Although this might be a little difficult to implement, it would greatly improve the experience of making a unique outfit that actually fits together.
As always, thank you for reading reading my suggestion!
Have an awesome whatever time of day it is currently!
