This post is extremely late as I forgot to post it, it was made on 7th of october. This is another suggestion that I am posting for another user, @TeamJB1, who made the full suggestion. Consult him for questions.
1. Items that should be able to be deleted
These are various different objects on that cant be deleted but probably should be.
- This stump:
- This log:
- This tree:
- These log bridges that are everywhere
- This one branch where the tree can be deleted but the branch cant
- These ruins on the south beach
-
Tall grass
-
According to MagicDragon16 the trees at cedar arch and ierecros are not destructable
Here are some things that I personally think should be able to be deleted but others could disagree:
- The dragon skull
- These engraving things in some of the walls
- This campsite (The tents are breakable but everything else isnt)
- Just chest nodes in general, since a lot of them just end up floating and stuff
2. Here are just some things that i think should be placable as decorations
- In this image: The lantern, the campfire with fish, the logs, the sword, the bottles and the logs would all be great decorations
*This table, this cart, those stone blocks, and the paper, scrolls and ink stuff that is on the table
- Minecarts and minecart tracks would be super cool and could even be functional. Also these cannonball things would be a cool decoration to put around mortars and cannons.
- These plates and vases, worktops, the bucket with water, the grindstone, the armour and weapon stands and the crate things with liquid inside and a tap
- The barracks fireplace:
- These bunk beds, cabinets and dresser
*Rope bridges that could just connect two terrain pieces
3. Finally, Here are some additional features that would be good to have:
Creating NPCs
Creating NPCs would allow for alot more customization and giving life to people’s builds. I think the best method would be an option in the civilization tab to insert an NPC, and when selected it would take you to the character design menu (The one that appears when you create a character), Then the name selection menu, and then possible a new title selection menu. It would then spawn in the NPC, from here you can give it gear to change the appearance, change the selected details and give it poses. You would also be able to give it dialog using the system sued to create notes. (This would probably require an improved notes system however)
Placing things on top of each other
This one is fairly simple, just being able to place objects on top of other objects. This would allow for better decorating and would allow people to place things on tables and such.
Repairing Ruins
This would be a very good system that would create the new “Repair” tab. While on this tab, it would highlight repairable structures, which you would then be able to repair for a price to create a structure. I dont expect this system to be added, since it is very unique to each island, but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway. Even if this doesnt get added, I think there should definitely be a way to remove ruins for a price instead.
Extra Functionality
This one is fairly simple, and would probably be done anyway, but I will say it nonetheless. This one is just requesting for more functions for decorations, like being able to sit on chairs and stools, or extinguishing lanterns or campfires. Lowering flags would also be a good one. This just makes the builds a little bit better, and would just be fun and nice to have.
Terrain Improvements
This one is a big problem. Terrain is super buggy right now and isnt really useful, so I’m going to make a list of improvements that are necessary for it to even be usable.
1. Remove limitations!
One of the main things holding Terrain back is that it can only be placed at Sea level. This just makes it impossible to use for anything aside from expanding land. If you were allowed to place it at any level, to a certain height limit of course, that would make it better. Another limitation is that in most places you cant even place it down, so i think terrain should ignore obstructions and collisions and be able to be placed inside other terrain.
2. Snapping points
I personally think that terrain should snap to the edges of other terrain (Player built or natural) so that it can seamlessly blend with other terrain. This would just greatly improve the experience of using terrain and how it looks.
3. More options
Sometimes the answer to a problem is just more stuff. Things like being able to place freshwater ponds, or just build rope bridges that arent already preattached to terrain. This would just make it better since there would be more options to choose from. Also being able to place things like trees or bushes would give people more customization, which is always better.
4. Removing terrain
To a certain extent, removing terrain would be very beneficial. There would definitely have to be limitations but it would be a very helpful tool and would allow more customization, which is always better.
Wall Improvements
Walls for the most part are fine, but they do have one problem, they cant use natural barriers. For example, in Blackreach Island there is a bunch of spire like mountains, And you cant place walls inside of them, so you have to go around the wall to make sure that you still have the barrier. This would be solved by just allowing walls to be placed inside anything, or some other solution that is better that I couldn’t think of. But anyway, this is a bit of a problem, and it would improve the QOL for using walls.
Map Changes
I do not expect this to be added at all, since this could be very difficult to do depending on how the map is coded, but the map updating for clan buildings would be cool. The first and probably easiest one to implement would be the ability to change the name of the island. In the building UI, you would be able to change the name of your island and it would be called that on the map.
The next one would be the little icons that appear when you zoom far into a town. They would appear on the map for any stands you placed on your island. The most difficult one by far would be the map updating so that what you have built shows up on the map. This could require the entire map to be recoded, so I will say again that I dont expect this one to be added, but only doing the name thing would make clan building better
More Controls
This would be a very good QOL feature or just another feature that would improve customization. Being able to rotate on all 3 axis and the ability to move and rotate things after you have placed them would be very good, and is pretty self explanatory why. Another control that would be beneficial is dyeing things. This would be good in case you wanted something other than your clan colours or grey.
In conclusion, all these features combined would be very good for clan building, allowing more QOL, customization and general features. Also please keep in mind that this post is based of what I encountered and thought of while building at Blackreach Island, and a couple things that other people have told me.
