Honestly, it would be great to have something like ‘‘WoM: Archive’’ with a continuation of how the game was planned to be initially. Reasons?
I like the idea of a continent.
It reminds me a lot of Genshin Impact, which is one of my favourite games, and the idea of a continent for both sounds pretty similar: continent with variable biomes, cultures, and so on.
This was also my main reason to like the game, it isn’t extremely similar to AA, a fresh take on a new map style, which had potential.
It’s enjoyable
Despite the issues (which can be solved) the game was fairly good for how it was. If put with a bit more effort, it may be only slightly below AO or par in level.
It’s not an AA clone, nor AR.
The issue I have with AO is being too similar to AA. Is this an issue, knowing how good the prequel of the newer game was? No, not at all, but as I said before, it’s a new take, and I really prefer new takes over old concepts.
However, we’ve got some issues, which I could easily fix:
Wipe the smart AI
While it’s immersive, it just lowers performance, and hinders your gameplay experience from time to time. How many times have you had to run to Summer Hold or Ironport before night because the Alchemist/Metalworker was about to close? A lot, right? Well, fix this by wiping them clean off the game.
‘‘Doesn’t this ruin what the game was meant to be?’’ you may ask. Well, sort of.
But, I’m sure everyone hated this, even if it made the game unique. I would rather have better performance and experience, rather than immersion which can hinder the game’s experience.
This includes de-spawning, randomized NPCs for the most part too, as someone who haves a Tyrant reputation file, I absolutely hate not finding Wanted Alchemists, Metalworkers or Smugglers, but just Fishmongers, Tailors & Smiths.
To solve this, I’d add locations such as a fixed bandit outpost/village, where you’ll find multiple negative reputation NPCs, which will attack positive reputation players nearby.
While writing this, I also got an idea: how about keeping the smart system, to an extent? We can keep the shopkeeper NPCs solid for the entirety of the game, but lock their interaction behind reputation.
Say, if you’re someone with negative reputation or someone who has a bounty, if you try to go to a Smith, they won’t run, but they won’t sell you a thing. How does this sound? Better than what we have now for sure. No longer need a specific hour to buy/sell stuff outside of travelling merchants, but reputation plays it’s part.
Revamp the quest system
Let’s face it. Quests right now are ‘‘walk around and attack’’. We could fix this, though the quests may still remain as ‘‘walk around and attack’’, we could include a variety of quests using this in a proper way, be it longer, multi-stage quests with good development overall or less walking and more action, for the fun.
I wonder who’ll do this though, and what Vetex and others think about this
AO is far from an AA clone. It’s a straight upgrade and will be far more fleshed out.

one, bugs, game will break down overtime and require extra maintenance to stay afloat
two, there’s no actual point besides feeding the nostalgia of a few kids
three, WoM in it’s current state kinda sucks
four, coding restraints
not too experienced with datastores but I’d assume transferring current WoM data would be more effort than its worth even if possible
fifth, it isn’t worth keeping it up if it won’t receive content updates
sixth, just let it die, even if you like a game there’s no need to continually stretch it out

Fourth you don’t have lua experince. Yes it is possible a dev can go back to saves uncopylock it etc.

how? with new roblox updates new bugs and glitches will appear, like for example inventory icons not loading in wom rn. So how would a copy of wom not get any bugs if it wasnt maintained like dragon said?
One bugs don’t magically appear if the game isn’t updating. Two their is an acutual point it’s not that hard to do. Doesn’t matter if it sucks it’s still nice to keep. Coding Restraints. Skid you don’t know anything about any progamming language please stop it is possible as I said in other replies. Fifth this is repeating that is the point it’s not like it costs him money to upkeep…
If roblox makes bugs in games it fixes it. That’s not how things work. Most bugs games have are from the developers not from roblox. If it is from roblox it’s patched in days.
Then how come many old games on roblox are currently unplayable? Those devs havent updated their game in ages and there werent any bugs before they left roblox/quit working on that game before hand
