Happy New Year guys! Here is my latest cinematic concept bossfight music for the latest boss, the Omen. Enjoy the 148,000 hp bossfight with this music ![]()
(This post is VERY on topic. Music lore description below  )
An enormous entity wandering in the Far Reaches of the Dark Sea. Its ruthless and lethal nature has never been unfolded, as no one was able to escape from the clutches of the monster. It spares no lives that traverse the beast’s territory, marking the graves of the reckless adventurers. Many aspired to live the legend after surviving from the Dark Sea, but their ambitions sank along with their bodies. Becoming the legendary Omen Slayer appears to be beyond reality, or is it…?
A cinematic concept music based on my favourite Roblox game, Arcane Odyssey. This music tells a legendary, fierce battle between the player and Omen, the atlantean Kraken. The idea sparked a long while ago when Vetex leaked the badge “Omen Slayer”. The word Omen caught my interest because it describes how terrifying it is to face this creature, let alone the fact that it originates from the Far Reaches, an uninhabitable place full of chaotic magic weather and powerful monsters. It truly deserves an epic boss fight theme, so I composed this track.
“vs Omen” features Dark Sea theme elements, such as the piano staccatos and wooden claves percussion (huge credit to Tobi for these masterpieces). A part of the arrangement inspiration comes from Averill’s theme from Arcane Adventures and Nighttime from Isle. I toned down the “energy” to match the dark, mysterious nature of the Dark Sea, while retaining the bass pattern from Nighttime to convey the unsettling feeling of facing the Kraken. I love how the music starts softly to show how the Omen slowly approaches, and finally reaches its climax in the heated battle in the rough seas. Arranging percussion is definitely my favourite part because it forms the foundation of movement throughout the whole track. It is the soul of cinematic battle music.
One thing I found composing this music challenging is to balance the instruments so that all of them can stand out and play their role, or in short, mastering. Volume automations become very important, yet I have never used them so intensively in my past experiences. Also, this is my first purely cinematic music. I believe there are loads of mastering to be improved (I’m VERY open to comments about the mastering of the climax part because it sounds a bit messy to me). Another thing is that when I was typing this description, Vetex announced the game’s full release date to be a week later, which is completely out of my expectations. My initial plan was to release this song along with the update or slightly later. So the mastering may appear a bit rushed when I tried to meet this “deadline”.
Hope you guys enjoy this bossfight theme, especially to all Arcane Odyssey fans. Keep gaming ![]()
