‘It’s been a while… good old Nimbus Sea.’
Aurora smiled slightly as she saw the familiar greenery of Port Mistral in the distance. She shifted herself and leapt down nimbly from the mast, landing in amongst an undisturbed crew and her best friend - Jroch, Jroch Shoe.
“Well Jroch. I’ve been thinking- last time we were in the Nimbus Sea was when you got really drunk at Rosehenge? That was ages ago- good days, no?”
Jroch looked a little abashed, “And you wrote that crappy story to try and impress Boss. You were so annoyed when they sent it back-” he retorted.
“Well, I hadn’t quite gained the spirit of failure back then. I can take it in stride now, but I assure you, this trip will be the one where I can get Boss to publish something, I’m sure of it.”
She looked over at the gentle waves, and sighed a bit at the rock of the ship.
Jroch frowned, “Not in the Nimbus Sea… We barely managed to convince that patrol ship not to sink us- they think Keraxe is about to invade. Shame somebody’s already written about five hundred articles about it-”
Aurora laughed as if the idea was impossible, “Not when King Calvus is alive they aren’t… even Wotan won’t want to touch Ravenna. Tartarus and beyond to him if Thorne or Azura also gets involved. No, I’ll avoid getting arrested or nosing around the war here. Planning to head to Sameria, maybe set up shop somewhere peaceful like that Monos village place down east. Rumors are saying that some trading organisations are setting up shop, I’ll sniff around.”
Jroch shrugged, “Well then… I have a guy at Rosehenge who can set me up with a boat. Drop me off as we pass Mistral and I’ll probably head up to bronze, to see the family. Look for rocks, check out the gossip at Ravenna, you know?”
Aurora smiled, “So… what you’re saying is that you’re gonna sit down under a tree somewhere, just waiting for an epiphany?”
“I mean- yeah, if you put it like that.”
She playfully shoved him, knocking over a box of apples. One rolled off the deck and into the water.
