Very good trade considering 1 calvus piece can go for nearly 2 pulsars

A few weeks ago I was getting 2 axe slashes or 2 pulsars for 1 calvus piece from several people, I imagine maybe you can’t get the same trades anymore but still at the very least its 1:1 or 2:1 at most, calvus and pulsar respectively
I’m sure the price varies from person to person, some can’t be bothered to farm sealed chests while Calvus is probably extremely easy for them to do (and they don’t need to sail anywhere for it).
This only applies to things like seasonals or niche items, boss drops actually have a (loose) consensus
I sold an extra sanguine dagger for 1000 galleons, could honestly just be me but I personally wouldn’t go off of a what people think something is worth on the forums. Values are usually determined (when at these more obtainable rates) by measure of what someone is willing to do. Someone might be willing to farm Calvus and has extra sets as a result of that meaning a set of Calvus gear would be worth a pulsar scroll (assuming that is what was being traded) to them. Afterall, what if they hate sailing and ship combat and would rather farm calvus repeatedly. Remember, this is a 1/10 drop vs a 1/60, which when you account for the different items is a 1/50 for a specific Calvus piece vs a 1/180 for a specific rare scroll/weapon.
This is what i’ve assumed. Its crazy that a single calvus piece is worth a pulsar, even in outlier cases. But that could be due to lack of exposure on my part.

Pulsars usually go for 2, sometimes 3 calvus pieces so 6 is a big W

calvus gear can be used by anybody while pulsars are only usable by mage builds/hybrids. although it’s “easier” to get than pulsar, it has a way higher demand
Had this discussion one too many times so cba, you jus do you bro, if you wanna make your own values based off of a few randoms in game and the 0 consensus no base prices on the discord marketplace and ultimately not benefit; go ahead…
While I don’t really care much for items that can easily be farmed (pulsar via ships, boss drops have higher drop rates). Let’s agree that actually rare stuff like sunkens and lost/ancient magics/styles (when they come out) are all a different story. You’re free to say a piece of Calvus is worth a pulsar if that, but as far as I’m concerned I don’t really care. If I had 10 pulsars and wanted a Calvus set, I’d gladly give multiple of those away if I have to. I simply don’t need all 10 anyways (I’d still keep a few regardless) and would rather trade for the boss set if it would save me time farming Calvus (especially if I thought Calvus was an annoying boss to fight).
I will reiterate, Sunkens and equivalent or rarer items are a different story. Just these things really aren’t that hard to come by so as far as I’m concerned it’s all relative. You’re free to dictate your own prices too, or even follow with what everyone else says x is worth, that’s your choice as well.
At the end of the day, we’re trading digital items with no real world value beyond time. I’m just going to do what I want for the day and acquire the items I want (except sunkens, I’m leaving that to the RNG gods).
