Weapons should have their own clashrates instead of winning clashes 100% of the time. The more “solid” a magic is (like metal/magma/wood), the higher chance a weapon has in winning a clash against it. However, the more “non-solid/energy-like” a magic is (light, lightning, fire), the lower chance a weapon has in winning a clash against it.
Essentially:
Magic > Weapons
Shadow
Light
Lightning
Fire
Plasma
Explosion (?)
Water (?)
Wind(?)
Acid (?)
Magic < Weapons:
Earth
Metal
Crystal
Magma
Wood
Glass
Ice (?)
Reasons to add:
Increases reasons to pick the current “non-meta” magics.
Reasons not to add:
Might just be a dumb suggestion, dunno.
(Note that this is a general idea, the list could be switched around to see fit)
(IDK where to put gaseous/particle magics on the list) I don’t really know how high in the meta gaseous/particle magics are…
Maybe things could change depending on the weapon type?
there are already few abilities from weapons that penetrate magic or even destroy it. if you want anti magic weapons, you should ask for Black magic items, such as Black magic shield that was used to consume any magic that was coming towards you
Every weapon should win against elemental/non solid magics. Heavy weapons equalize with heavy/solid weapons, and light weapons like rapier or dagger/claws lose against heavy/solid magics.
I can probably try and make a clash rate table, but right now I’ve gotta finish some stuff and help Sandal.
I’m a conjurer, but I don’t respect the warrior grind if you’re using THAT against me of all things.
I have like 3 projectile attacks on my weapons, and my magic doesn’t even fucking do anything against it!
i find the lingering clash hitboxes everything has more problematic than the weapon clash rates
tempest shouldnt be able to block projectiles a whole second after it ends and katana/dual swords (and maybe triasta) should leave the user vulnerable and not have a clash hitbox that lasts a second
maybe have clash strength decay rapidly for weapon skills
i dont know really, gold is a soft metal and can literally be cut by a butter knife, i think you need to compare the ‘matter’ from the magics to real world matter, and gold is heavy as well, and heavy weight = more force = more damage
also most glass are pretty weak, doing big damage but shattering easily, so i dont get why you’re putting it in the ‘clash-able’ catagory while when something hits it that has a force of 3+ digits of newton shatters, something tells me the shards are going to keep flying towards the enemy no matter how hard you try to chop it into pieces
metal? you mean iron? iron is pretty strong, being even stronger than copper + tin combined (bronze), but having a chunk of iron clash against a sword… yeah i think the chunk of iron wins this one, not to mention steel, stainless, stronger iron
plasma… is interesting, since its literally atoms whose electrons fly everywhere, and its hot, like really hot, rock-melting-into-lava kind of hot (by the way, stone has a higher melting point than metal, dunno why, ask google and your physics teacher), so its going to melt that sword of yours in no time, how can you clash when the thing you want to clash can melt almost everything??? and im not even talking about acid, whose whole purpose is to melt stuff!
i can go talk about so much more but i dont have the time for it nor the energy to do it, thank you for coming to my ted talk and have a nice day!
