getting back into writing a bit so! typical fight scene
A bolt of magic zips right above your head, barely missing you by an inch or so. You look up, face to face with a wizard radiating crashing waves of magical energy. They smirk, and points their crooked finger towards you,
“I finally found you! You thought you can hide from me!?”
The man stared up at the new wizard, an incredibly unimpressed look on his face.
“…You again? You knocked my hat off.” The voice of the one who had been approached was monotonous and dead tired. True to his word, though, a dark red canvas cap laid on the ground, now with a brand new smoking hole through it. The short yet messy crimson hair of the man was now being blown about by the magical power emanating from the other wizard.
“Oh, you’ll be able to buy another, I’m sure! What with that handsome payday you got when you took down my buddies.” The floating wizard’s words were etched with venom. It seemed he held a grudge of some sort. “Unlucky for you, I got your name! Having connections pays off in this world, you know.” The floating wizard let loose an almost crazed laugh. “So. Are you ready to die, Jerome?”
With no further words, the wizard let loose a crackling explosion of lightning, searing the ground and trees around him. He finally let himself land, glancing around with a wide eyed expression of excitement. It was, however, shortlived.
“That was a close one.” Jerome stood a few feet back, some loose ash particles still trailing from his legs. “Normally, I don’t need magic for stuff like that.” He spoke and acted like an automaton. A robotic soldier. His outfit, a red, tight fit merchant’s coat and pitch black pants lended to this militaristic, hardened appearance. The grey bandana covering his mouth stayed fixed firmly in place, unlike the hat that was now all but incinerated on the floor.
“Bastard!” The lightning wizard swore, hunching over. There was another loud crackling noise, and the man thrust himself forward with the aid of lightning from his legs, his hand now coated in electricity as well. “You’ll die by my hand!”
Jerome attempted to dodge, sidestepping the move. It had worked for this man’s so called friends, so it should be that same for him, right?
Apparently not. This man appeared to be a great deal stronger than the other dark wizards that had been dispatched. He pivoted, slamming his hand into the chest of the ash wizard. He stumbled a few feet back, his shirt now seared as well.
“How did that one feel? There’s a lot more where it came from! Think of it as a gift from those you KILLED!” The wizard attempted the same move yet again. It would not work twice.
Now prepared for an attack, Jerome formed a ball of ash in his hands, stepping low to avoid to straightforward palm strike of his adversary. Reaching up, he placed his hand over the mouth of the wizard, generating more ash as he did so.
The lightning began to slowly fizzle out as the ash quickly suffocated the man, filling his lungs and air passages completely.
“…Shame. You were tough. Maybe if you weren’t so twisted, you could have become stronger. Die silently.” He held his hand there until the wizard stopped moving, and then dropped his body to the ground, dispelling the ash from his palm.
Damn dark wizards… Jerome thought to himself, slowly walking over to his hat, which was now charred beyond recognition.
“Great. I’ll have to get a new one. That’s the 5th this month…” He sounded tired. All these hats were starting to cut into his money a bit, yet he still insisted on buying them.
He tossed the burnt hat towards the body of his foe, and began his slow, boring pace back to Ironport once more. Hopefully the pay from this job would be good. This guy had tracked him down fast, and caused more trouble than the request had probably been worth. The man only sighed. He’d have to cut out a deal somehow. Quickly, too, before any other “aspiring hero” took credit for it. He hated those. Young, fresh faced kids going out to almost get themselves killed on a couple of bandits. Jerome wasn’t much older, but felt he did a much better job. With all this going through his mind, he continued. The body and the scene of the fight were now long gone, and he had new worries on his mind. Namely, hat related ones.
basically just a dark wizard encounter with extra drama + some thought process at the end
