The player’s choices in the game are virtually meaningless. Heck, even fighting styles resemble magic attacks. The difference between magics are literally numbers and a single status effect.
what
what happened in AA…?
It’s weird. I agree that spells feel like reskins at times, although AO does a good job tricking you into not thinking so with it’s killer effects and how powerful they felt. Still though, certain parts boggle my mind. Why is casting a beam of light a higher art than shooting what amounts of a literal condensed sun?
Granted, most if not all the AO spells are just AA spells just more varied so yeah.
you mean angel?
sorta but probably more complicated
You can literally create almost every arcane adventure spell in arcane odyssey right now, it’s an objectively better system (Besides the lost spells that are missing)
The problem is that because every Magic has access to the same types of moves, they don’t feel unique
Yeah, it’s up to you to make them unique. There’s literally zero downside
in aa they were also pretty much the same?
your q was either a blast or beam
your r was either a pillar, sphere, or shockwave
your ult was either a multi blast or a jump ult (basically just big pulsar), unless you used earth where there isnt really anything that similar in ao
and e and f were just barrages with knockback, i guess snare fills their purpose
aa magic variation was mostly visuals, most spells besides ults had the same outcome
that’s the point
it’s up to you
you literally get full control over what your spells can do
it’s honestly a really unique system
tbh i was thinking the same, everything seems bland
fighting styles too
Fighting styles do a better job at being not bland because they felt unique enough with their mechanics and were few enough each doesn’t feel like just another fighting style. May be biased because I’m a warlock.
The most unique fighting style is cannon fist imo, that shit goes hard asf
I think most complaints about uniqueness come from how each magic kind of feels samey to an extent. While speed, weight, status effects, interactions and est do make the magics unique, it kind of doesn’t feel the part at times.
Think about it:
- Most do not have the context of AA, where the spells were very samey and our spells are just those
- Most kind of don’t 100% care about stats. Oh wow this goes faster than the other? Will it feel like it the average dude?
- The different magics kind of make it feel like they would
You know how a while
Back then there was a Not saying it script that allowed you to still not saying it players on roblox. There was absolutely NO filter for this back in the days of AA so you could be a maxed out full legendary weapon wielding player and still end up getting never saying it by a random script kiddie looking to get their laugh out.
Replayabilty. There’s no point in running, say, mage twice unless you use metal and light or something. And with FS feeling very close to magic, even running different builds can feel samey.
Also, you act like having everything is objectively better all the time. Simply put, it’s not. Enjoyment can be found in limitations. It’s why things like classic skyblock (not the server based ones) exist. The limitations imposed provide a unique experience.
“Full control”
Oh yeah, changing the SIZE by a bit and the NAME are very compelling and versatile. Sure, mages get a slight bit more with shape and Ult Art, but only mages as of now. The single choice a mage really has is whether or not their Ult Art should go on blast or explosion.
well obviously you can’t get like dev access level of freedom but what we have now is already a very large selection of moves.
don’t forget you can swap around weapon loadouts (sadly no move customization here) and create your own FS techniques
While I think having spells be shared between all Magics is a good idea, I do agree with how each Magic should have at least one or two Lost/Ancient spells exclusive to them. I think it’d help to differentiate Magics for new players, especially since the only differences are stats and statuses (some of which are semiclones of each other).
