Dunno but like islands rn feel so dry they don’t really have something ‘‘interesting’’ in them, I mean ok maybe harvest is capturable and has a fs mentor there but ehhhhhh it is just that there’s nothing there to keep the player there to explore more than the silly exploration tasks that give like 0 exp because there’s nothing more on them. Shell has a town with npcs and some quests, cool but the biggest part of it aka it’s wilderness has NOTHING, of course to complete quests you need to go there but ehh you go there and nothing else. Like I honestly liked AA’s and AR 'sislands bcuz there weren’t many like in the bronze sea and each one had some cool little detail about weather or some bad guy for players to beat or a boss, like look at newground, it had the crazy wizards ok maybe this is a bad example but savaria had the little sandtorms and dust devils randomly forming and the bandits for us to beat too and Trigno’s ship with a fighting style mentor and Cumulus was in the sky obviously and it also had Verdies randomly attacking the island with plasma showing that the island is in actual threat just some lil details ig and Alalea also had the guards and guard captains and well ARSEN in there giving some challenge to players. I really wish there was something different maybe some npcs to fight or something but yeah i don’t really know how to explain how I really feel about islands rn, maybe the Kingdom and Town Alignment feature will do something but islands without any kingdoms or towns will stay the same I guess idk bye
Yeah I also like them not to mention Cirrus is my second favorite island in da game but it is uh very small lmao
True it is small asf
the Cirrus Island story arc was annoying on my first playthrough, because my two braincells made me fall like 8+ times or so and i kept having to reset (I am not climbing everytime bro), please i just want to massacre Skyhall .
every island has something, whether it be something as small as sun caraway (which are huge for chefs) or sky pinecones (huge alchemy item), to something such as making you go insane or just treasure and lore. Just about the only island you can make a case as to not having any reason to ever try to go there is shell island, since realistically what is giant bananas and the giant banana accessory gonna do to make people go there? However, the fact that it is huge means that people will go there regardless (and the fact that it’s a part of the story to go there, in order to meditate for awakening).
But let me remind you, there was quite a few useless islands in AA. As in, literally NOTHING unique about it or any possible reason to explore them. The reason you might have not mentioned them is probably because you forgot about them from how little was on there. Like it or not, every single island in AO serves some purpose, whether it be story or some special commodity or serious lore or something else.
I wish there was more islands up northwest. Don’t care if vetex add small islands or big islands, that place is so barren.
I don’t think it’s dry a lot of people want special designs and shit like that which is cool but it’s just extra, look at frostmall it’s just an ice island but there is a lot more to it you get your grandpa quartermaster there and your first party member and let’s not begin with the lore of it. Also moyai island
Honestly, the islands themselves aren’t terrible, we’re just… used to them. I mean, we’ve gotten like 1 new island since the game released.
pretty sure that this is planned for the islands that will be added to the bronze sea, reminder that it’s not finished yet
Besides, AA had way more islands than AO right now, so of course there would be more interesting islands.
Also you’ve probably not noticed many of the little details of certain islands, like how the djin ruins would fit perfectly in harvest island’s two whirlpools (those parts were likely flung up a while ago and turned into sky islands), or how Dark pine doesn’t have an actual island base, telling you that it was either created by someone else, or was once part of Skycliff island which fell down, after which Skycliff continued to drift further east.
The islands in AO are interesting if you look a little deeper, since not everything is very obvious right away.
fuck you, turning deckhands are REAL in shell island!
Say what you will but I think the islands in AO are dry. Hell, It’s funny how people advocated for islands over continent during the TGR, saying that small and compact islands will lead to more detailed terrain while the continent was “filler land”. Now we have small compact islands full of said filler land instead of detail.
Ravenna seems big but it’s a big rock with a small flat path between the towns, the island looks big but the mountain that takes up half of Ravenna has almost nothing on it, yes there are some caves but do you ever go there? Not to mention Carina locking out half of the Shining Plains unless you want her to constantly deal peashooter damage to you while you do your thing.
Sandfall is just small, Cassia bay isn’t even an island, it’s just smaller Jaws but sandy. Sky islands apart from Cirrus are awfully small and there’s barely any reason to return there. Sure the sky pumpkin place has a purpose but sadly it’s just some bland rocks, vetex could’ve put more effort in it. Places like Frostmill and Shell are just full of cliffs you don’t care about unless you do charts which restricts the place you travel through by a lot. I could just go on and on about this in all honesty.
Despite what I stated, I believe that vetex may be bringing the game to a good path. While Blasted Rock was dry (for obvious reasons, it’s just a filler island), Palo Town got decently reworked and each area feels somewhat special and detailed, I hope vetex keeps this up.
that is EXACTLY what i’m talking about, it looks big but it has literally NOTHING at all on it more than npcs boring quests and little to no detail at all
It could change if they implement more lore to the game like the ravenna festival (however it’s called) and all those stuff that we have heard about but never experienced.
Carnevale is already happening by the time we got to Ravenna and idk why would vetex implement such useless feature besides what would it do add to the lore anyway dunno about the ‘‘stuff we heard about but never experienced’’ too
Not add to the lore just add to the feeling of being a part of it, and I think it would be cool if once in a while there is an event exclusive to each sea.
npcs all around you watching you as they do nothing and you eat everything
Truly an arcane odyssey
