true, pvpheads only yell about the ones that affect them, and since most people only hear from the pvpheads, bteam is seen in a bad light
its like the news
that’s what this thread is for
let’s hear some of them
Say it
This might sound stupid, but the second one could be viable, even if it doesent do well in higher level matches.
you have a low, but adequate amount of power and defense.
you have a decent amount of speed which will show itself for most builds
you have ~80 intensity, which passes at least two threshold increases and can be more than a 20% damage boost for dot-focused builds.
The 35 size might seem useless, but do to the current size formula this can increase size by a lot for smaller magics (I’m pretty sure this is a bug though)
the regeneration and piercing is worthless
the resistance could be useful, but I haven’t used it enough to say for sure.
You will unfortunately be crippled by the insanity 4, though.
You’be got a point.
Resistance is quite untested, but that’s enough to do pretty decently.
That’s average attack speed.
Only slightly under in power
Half-decent intensity
Without the insanity it’s pretty nice.
weapons bad because
1 no drip
2 no customization which every other build has (before you say there are different weapons other than rare weapons over half of all skills are the same)
3 you gotta grind for weapons
4 you get less moves than the other classes,
5 you need to constantly switch between the different weapons (sounds like a pain)
6 most weapon skills are not made yet meaning that even if you get the required stats for 'em you cannot use them
7 unlike magic and fighting styles which grow with you, you can easily outgrow your current weapon, making it so you need to grind a boss for a new one or spend a good bit trying to find the right weapon for you, and during said time you will be weaker than a magic or strength user of similar level
8 there aren’t really any cool synergies you can do. sure some rare weapons can apply status effects, but the vast majority just apply bleed reducing your variety even more
9 you can’t customize the names of your skills
note: this is from before the nimbus sea update and 70% a joke
To be fair, I also hated weapons at that time.
vitality is lame
purple acid is the better variation
i dont like the game (currently, hoping this changes)
mace is the best weapon type
Mostly agreed, except that one crack in Elius’ arena that’s like 3 player heights deep. That one has to go

In Vetex’s PvP rant he said he dislikes balancing PvP and that he’d remove it entirely of his game wouldn’t die because of it and that there would be no PvP centric updates. I can sympathize not wanting to balance but I think that PvP is the exception to this, mostly because PvP inherently needs to be well balanced or it just doesn’t work (basically a double-bladed sword which works against AO’s favor). But then at the same time removing PvP would kill the game so he has to keep it in. When it comes to PvP I think it should be removed entirely and brace the losses or heavily revamped. The way PvP is now really shouldn’t cause this much division in a video game of all things and trying to do both sides isn’t going to work so I say remove it or turn it into a deepwoken esque game. We could even do both and completely separate them. But there’s no way they can coexist together.

I’m against skill based matchmaking (you might remember that from a suggestion a while ago)
-
I’m completely neutral when it comes to killing low levels. I personally don’t see the point of complaining about people who do. I understand that it’s annoying but that applies to AO PvP as a whole. I’d also understand if this was a game like Rogue Lineage where you actually lose progress but AO doesn’t have that. In my opinion dying in PvP in this game regardless of level is the same and a big spectacle doesn’t need to be made of it (applies to max level PvP too)
-
I also think if you join a clan then you’re basically opting into PvP (not like you can opt out in the first place lol) due to clans being PvP centric. I said this one time and people thought it was unthinkable.

The most nuclear of all but I don’t see this game being finished. I look at the amount of ambition this game has and I feel somewhat excited about it but at the same time realize that Vetex has a small team developing a game that even a big mmo team would struggle with (not saying I don’t have faith in Vetex but still). I feel like AO would see better success as a book series instead like he’s planning.
I’d know since I turned one of my game concepts into a novel and it started going well.
I might’ve been exaggerating that it was heat death levels of hot takes but I’d say it is atleast town fire level since it goes against Vetex and possibly pisses off both PvE and PvP Players.
Surge is bad and it need to be buffed.
solutioning this not bc i agree but bc those opinions were truly unpopular
completely agree
Mage in general needs to be reworked, it’s lost it’s more “build your own moveset” status and just switches what mage playstyle and spellset is meta every update.
all spells should fulfill a specific niche and not have a specific meta loadout
(e.g. surge is just kinda bad rn)
THERE SHOULD BE MORE SPELLS THAT PROVIDE UTILITY RATHER THAN JUST PURE DAMAGE IN AN UNINTERESTING WAY
CURRENT PVP IS LITERALLY JUST A DPS RACE THIRD PERSON SHOOTER
complete sentence
this is why i advocate for hop and hover
what is that
Fancy leap, like how javelin and canon are fancy blast
That’s why I’m not wanting to be a mage anymore, there’s no fun spells, they all just keep you exactly in place and do something towards your opponent.
