hey, wanted a discussion about gems basically, i personally hate them, i really don’t like them as a system and many things just don’t make sense, and i also don’t like how the future might look with them.
my main gripe is 100% the energy regen you can get from it.
better explaining my hate for them:
imo they are just so dumb, not only are they really annoying to get to a good level, they are just overkill, we already have the general stats armor’s have and then enchantments, and THEN ontop we get more via potions. you can get even better energy regeneration which we really DON’T need. especially as of this moment where we aren’t in a good position on balance, adding a whole nother system is just not the smartest move.
this is probably just some rambling, but it’s just a system i don’t understand on why it was added.
I haven’t focused on leveling up my own jewelcrafting skill at all because I get enough repetitious grinding from getting accessories and boss drops to make my build, but besides that I think they are actually pretty nice. You get to more finely tune your build and make something that works even better with your own strengths. Just too bad a lot of people tend to only use power and defense jewels, though I see that as a general problem with how useful and necessary those stats are to begin with.
Cough, cough, SAVANT, cough, cough
I don’t quite get this point as the game is unfinished, and new systems are gonna be added with each update, I think, as the game remains that way. Sure, it screws a bit with the balance, but that was bound to happen anyways. And I’d take a bit of unbalanced gameplay for a while with a new, interesting system to partake in rather then have the game be super balanced, but otherwise have no more fun and intriguing content to partake in as the updates roll around.
I feel like there’s not much of a reason to not fill each slot with Power, but that’s probably because of my armor set. I also don’t like how about three secondary effects are usable in combat, and even then, one of those only works for grab attacks if you don’t have Wind Magic or Boxing. Swimming/Climbing Speed is too niche, and Attack Destruction gives me chills.
Grinding it to Perfect wasn’t too bad, since Gems aren’t that uncommon after a pirate massacre and Mount Othrys is filled with Coppershrooms because nobody goes there. The main thing about Jewels that I see is that it further intesifies how niche Intensity can be. Like Knockback secondaries, it only has a noticable effect with Wind Magic.
I think its scary and cool that people can still have 1.7k to 1.8k health while still dealing near 250 damage per move, but it did took me a long time to max mine out because I wasn’t in the mood for Jaws farming and just afked on top of the Stepstones
I did split up the reagents, like 400 Coppershrooms and 100 Auric Seaweed so I don’t get burned out doing 1 thing. For the secondary stat, It’s kinda just whatever, I’m not gonna spend my time min maxing energy regen to 5%
Never really thought about it too much, it’s essentially just lesser second enchantments with the ever so slightly lower stats.
Plus it’s power boost is linear so that it’s not really THAT powerful, considering the fact that having two different gems socketed in your armor sets are impractical compared to only focusing on one gem stat, for now at least.
I also don’t really dislike the grind for it, I’ve had worse tedious grinding sessions in other rpg games inside and outside of Roblox.
And hey I guess it rewards players their dedication to the game and what not.
this is probably my main problem, imo a big problem with AO stats imo is that you can literally be the same level, but someone could COMPLETLY stomp you, by literally just having better stats. (meta builds don’t help but that’s another thing).
imo it’s just really crazy that you can be the same level but still so far apart in strenght.
If you want to level it up fast I did it in a couple days with friends, we just fleeted together in our boats wrecking wt ever came our way it was pretty fun
