What do spirit weapons actually do?

So apart from a few signature rites spirit weapons don’t really have any applied effect apart from damage so where’s the benefit Magics Fs and Weapons all get secondary applied effects so why don’t spirit weapons?

They don’t yet. The reason being that they’re weak or something.
The high grade ones will applying status effects

But why is that fair compared to any other method of combat

The sheer amount of gimmicks they have, look at all the rites shown.

you could view it as a chart

Ranged - Magic, Spirit
Melee - Weapons, Strength
and
Items - Spirit, Weapons
Slots - Magic, Strength

Problem with that is that Weapons and Spirit are both quite evenly split to be mid-range, so they both fill the exact same niche, except one looks less cool.

Well, the current ones are fairly weak, take into account that the strongest spirit weapon user we find is like lvl 100 or so (maybe more?), i am not sure, but spirit weapons have specific characteristics of their own besides being a weird mix of magic & weapon:

  • They can imbue magic
  • They always come with 5 rite slots (for a normal weapon it depends on the quality)
  • At higher tiers, they’ll be far more stronger because of being able to deform one’s own body, cause natural occurrences, etc.
  • They will have some exclusive rites that can’t be found similarly in another stat (for example, spirit blast is similar to magic blast or axe slash). (Ex thakrousi, if that was the tsunami one)
