What do you guys think if this were to be Added?

Suggestion 1

For the empire update.

I would love to see us being able to fortify our empire/city with NPC that we can station.

In the defense tab:

A thing called “Defense hut” will be there for X price.
you can station a quarter master that will just stand near the area.

You will also be able to position the quarter master “Somewhere close” like next to the gate"

hp of the hut will be depended on level

Max 1, Scales of infamy maybe?

Suggestion 2:

Then we have the main “Crew building”
You will be able to station a crew there and make them simply exist around a area, similar to a “Rally Flag” in many games. You will be able to customize the area like expanding a circle or drawing a box and if a enemy is spotted, the guy will alert all other npcs and go attack the intruder.

You can also customize the “Crew Building” by giving them weapons. Lets say the “sailor crew” has 8 npcs.
There will be a “Weapon Slot” and “Armour Slot”
You will be able to donate a weapon into the building “lost forever, cant be retrieved armor & weapons” for them to use. Same with armour but if the armour is higher then the lv of the crew, it will automatically go down.

Ranged weapons are locked behind lv 3 for reasons like 10 random npcs come and instantly auto aim on you 5 bazillion dmg.

Ranged damage “Solely musket/bows” will be reduced by 25% to encourage melee like katana sword dash instead of musket boom.

You are also “NOT” Allowed to have the same type of weapon in multiple weapon slots. like 3 muskets.

Every weapon slot, A npc will have a random weapon so if u have 4 weapon slots and 8 npcs. The npcs will have spread items.
like 2 sword guys, 2 spear guys, 2 musket boom boom ez dmg and ye.

For the level 1 “Crew Building”
You will have 1 weapon slot & 1 Armor slot “Chestplate”

For level 2

You will unlock 2 Weapon slots & 2 Armor slots “Chestplate & Leggings”

For Level 3

You will unlock 3 Weapon Slots & 3 Armor slots “Chestplate, Leggings & Accesory” And be able to unlock “Ranged Weapons”

For level 4 “max”

You will unlock 4 Weapon Slots. 4 Armor slots “Chestplate, Leggings & 2 Accesory”

“Crew stats gained from weapons & Armor/Accessories will be reduced by 50%”
hp of the hut will be depended on level

If the building breaks, crew ceases to exist making it a somewhat high priority target!!
The building is only allowed to be able on the surface and it has to have a way to the rally flag.

Suggestion 3

Rally Flag
If you have a crew building/ defense hut. Station the crew/quartermaster there or patrol around the flag.

If 2 flags or more exist, a option to make the crew/quarter master walk forward and back to the other flags, like a patrol.

Suggestion 4

Cannons

Tier 1-4 Cannons exist that will shoot any player / boat that is the closest, similar to Fort Talos.

Now to prevent spamming cannons and ez win.

You will need to man a npc on the cannon.

If a Crew building exists, use 1 of the npcs to man the cannon, if the npcs died, the cannon will be inactive and not shoot.

This way, you can either choose to 1. Have cannons that can break but stop people from ENTERING or having a crew patrol the inside to “KILL THE INTRUDERS”

so u can let them in and kill them or dont let them in and kill them, the choice is yours!!

Thoughts

i would love to see this be implemented, i love ao and i love the theory of building a empire and making defenses like cannons and such but having npcs WITH IT would make it just 100x more fun and cool for me.

yeah this is prob hard to code but if you could do “something remotely similar” id be happy.

For the clan servers, its gonna be a nightmare first day as NOBODY has a castle or anything really.

So solution: Implement this 2 Days after the update so people have time to build then save it, afterwards introduce clan servers so they have to take over the island to load their save file and keep buildin
