What do you think the aberration is?

Arcane Odyssey’s development team and lore being inconsistent? Shocker.

Oh yeah I read that one, I remember it, I was more wondering on your guesses about the unknown being

I have heard so many convoluted answers to this question, that it has literally become a massive mess. Here’s a list of literally all the interpretations I’ve heard (filtered out those that just misinterpreted the lore, and ended up with just more inter-convoluted jumbled up theories):

  1. It’s Torren (now Kingslayer), and he/she is sealed across the Dark Sea. We’ll not fight them.
  2. It’s Torren (now Kingslayer), and he/she is sealed across the Dark Sea, but Aesir will somehow manage to teleport them across the world/ or they’ll posess someone, and we’ll fight them. (Plus add some Freedrock meeting stuff, but he’s supposedly dead now (I hope not!), so scratch that!)
  3. It is near the Marauder Sea and NOT the Kingslayer, or the Kingslayer was sealed in the War Seas (or not, if they were sealed underneath the Old Sea), we’ll of course fight them!
  4. It is Hades, and is far from all the Sea Clusters. The Peacekeeper would kill him after AO ends, so we can still feel his presence.
  5. It’s the Unknown Entity, who’s also a primordial.
  6. It’s lore relevant, but has no endgame in the game story. Possibly will have something to do with it AFTER the story ends (possibly in a novel, or something). It is still the Unknown Entity.

My personal theory is the 5th one modified, because I think it makes the most sense if it does have a active role in the story (regardless of if we fight it or not). Since the entity freed Prometheus and pretty much caused the whole mess in Olympus even before the civil war, it got sealed under Olympus which is now inside the War Seas, now that the Gods are gone and the world is pretty much toast, people are trying to free it for power. You can also throw in the Kingslayer into the equation (because why not?), by saying this Unknown Entity possesses them and is the reason for their sudden power-boost… we fight it in both cases.

I am 100% certain the Aberration is Martin the Legendary Beast Atlantean. I’m not even joking rn.

Honestly, given the Tech quote, the only suspect that makes sense is one of the Primordials which spawned from Chaos and Creation. Those being Gaia, Tartarus, Nyx, Erebus and sometimes Eros. Likely it’s Tartarus or Erebus, since those are the most threatening of the Primordials, being the Pit beneath the Earth wherein the Titans, Cyclopes, and Hecatoncheires were imprisoned for a time, and the concept of Darkness himself. I don’t really think any other figures in the myths fit what little we know about the abberation, so I’m pretty confident that it’s one of those two primordials. Unless it’s a completely original character.

I wonder how much those primordials are different from usual gods in AO? Are they capable of feats such as helping god to steal domain from another very powerful god? Or are they just older and stronger. Athena said gods would have been able to deal with it if they were alive.

a shower
no AO player can ever reach it

so chaos

It’s Silas’ ex girlfriend.

That’s why when he looks at her he sees red.

Actually given that Apollo is often stated to have been gifted the Chariot and thus the domain of the Sun from Helios, thus it is not unprecedented for godly beings to give their powers to others. So it may be that such powers can also be revoked or stolen. I’m not sure how it would occur specifically, perhaps Hermes somehow aided in the theft, or one of the Primodials tricked the goddess, but transference of domain is possible, and thus it is likely that theft is as well.

The problem with that is that the Abberation, as we know it currently, is likely the power which the Order seeks to unleash. Meaning that the creature/force is sealed in some manner. Chaos is clearly not sealed as it is able to freely bestow its power to those who garner its attention through their destructive acts.

There’s also the fact that Chaos is not on the planet, it exists seemingly in a quantum superposition with no true physical form, only will and sapience, more akin to something like yog-sothoth than a proper being. Something omnipresent too large for anything but a fraction of a fraction of its power to be contained in any sort of vessel.

Finally, we know too much about Chaos already, whereas the Abberation has been purposefully obscured by the Dev team. Most of what we know of Chaos has been given freely, its purpose, its behavior, even its cult, but the Abberation, its nature, powers, and purpose, all remai a mystery. Thus I do not believe that Chaos and the Abberation are the same.

Don’t you dare make it so that canonically the player is a straight white male who had a messy breakup with their ex

Could be Tartarus, a lot of the negative feelings about the Aberration align with him.

or…

an original titan… when push comes to shove…

I mean Cronus is the youngest of the Titans, so I suppose some of his siblings could also be candidates, but I mean you don’t usually refer to your siblings as more ancient than you. I mean unless you’re making fun of them.

As for Tartarus, I do think he’s the most likely Candidate, given that his body/place of power (whatever you call the Pit) is capable of keeping divine beings like the Titans trapped within. However, this begs the question as to how the Spirit of Tartarus was sealed in the Mortal world. I would say the Fracturing somehow opened a gate way to it, but if it was sealed by the gods, then that can’t be the case… I’ll have to ponder this more, or just wait till things are actually revealed, but where’s the fun in that?

Also quick post script, the negative emotions is actually a really good point, given that the other place I at least associate Tartarus with (the Pit in Makrinaos) also emanates immense feelings of dread. Which provides at least a tangential connection between the two.

I’m personally hoping that both the Aberration and the unknown entity are the same (idk if this has been hinted at/confirmed already), and that it is an original creation i.e. not from the Greek mythos. Basically it would be neat if it truly was an aberration in the mythos (some entity that doesn’t belong or something) that came around and screwed up the normal path of history by freeing Prometheus, giving him the ability to steal domains, and weakening Hecate. Which of course then leads to the timeline deviation from our path of history

Also I wonder if it being spelled Abberation in the Book of Athena instead of Aberration (the correct spelling of the actual word) is on purpose or if that was just a typo lol
