What exactly were the gods?

The Arcane universe is based off of a “what if” of Prometheus giving humans magic instead of fire, but over time the lore expanded beyond that. Like for example, Chaos is the source of magic, and it’s some odd malevolent force spread across the universe.

Thing is, did something create the gods of Earth? Were they just another race that knew about magic before the rest of the world? They could’ve known about magic for who knows how long, so maybe they just eventually became “gods”. I feel like there should be some sort of clearer explanation on what the gods are in this universe because there are clearly stronger entities in the world, including mere humans like Cursebeard.

Yes, Kronos through fucking Rhea and then those gods fucking other things

Also god is a race, not a class. Just because you’re a god doesn’t instantly make you stronger than all humans, it’s just that gods are usually stronger due to their anatomy.

Man how am I supposed to know about who those people aren’t even mentioned in the lore doc? It’s not very “Full”. Where do you people find this stuff

That’s Greek mythology

Greek mythology has things that created the gods? Bruh I thought the gods were at the top like what’s the point of worshipping em

The gods killed the Titans and Primeval gods don’t care about prayers

Chaos and Creation, those two entities made the universe

just a bunch o really strong guys with magic

bit underwhelming if you ask me

I don’t think titans exist in the arcane universe, they’ve never been mentioned

Tech literally mentioned Atlas being in Tartarus and Kronos being cut up in Tartarus.

It’s also common Greek Mythology

Never heard of “creation” anywhere, but isn’t Chaos some vague evil force spread across the universe?

Creation is Unknown #2

Man why can’t vetex and tech put their lore ramblings on stuff like this in the doc

Based on the entire idea that the Arcane lore starts at the story of prometheus…
Yes titans do exist in the lore because that story happens after the gods take over literally everything that the titans once had.

You see, the gods and the titans didn’t exactly get along. The gods are basically titan + human or
god + god, and god + human = half god (demigod). You get the idea.
Anyways, after Chronos decided to eat all of his children, this included: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Hades, and some others I forgot. Zeus was actually replaced with a rock so that Rhea could take him literally anywhere else to grow up.
Later Zeus came back, poisoned Chronos, had him throw up all of the now-adults that have been in his stomach for the entirety of their childhood (you wonder why they’re so screwed up?) and then Chronos was brutally murdered, starting a war between the titans and the gods that were basically just born.

A couple full stories and a rigged straw game later, bam the gods rule over everything.

It’s legit just greek mythology with a twist, which somehow affected the entire outcome of the world.
That being said, Titans, Gods, and all those other supernatural beings from Greek Mythology exist. Unsure about greek heroes though.

For all of this to start at the story of Prometheus, most Greek heroes probably never get a chance to exist.
