What happened to all the lurkers? Do Blue Whales drop anything? Palo Town looks awesome

So earlier when the update was released I noticed that there were lurkers everywhere I went so I grinded as much as I could and only got 11 lurker eyes, But now I can’t find them anywhere, not even under the whirlpools. Did Vetex remove lurkers from the game? Or did he make them 20 times more rare? Also, I killed 8 or so blue whales and none of them dropped anything. Do blue whales drop anything? Also, Palo Town looks beautiful and amazing.

I assume the sudden rise in Lurker spawns is related to the rise of whirlpools as well
