for those who dont know, an aurora is a natural light display in earths upper atmosphere caused by charged particles from the sun colliding with atoms in the atmosphere[1], which usually only happens in high latitude regions
this is because of the earth’s magnetic field forcing the charged particles to the polar regions, where the magnetic field is coming out of the earth, thus allowing the charged particles to ‘fall’ into the atmosphere
thats not exactly how it happens since i dont know the specifics because my only knowledge of it is from some classes a few years back, please correct me if im wrong
Mount Othrys, the south large island of the Bronze Sea, is located in Greece, which is closer to the equator than to the polar regions
and as far as I know (once again, please correct me if im wrong), CME’s and solar flares aimed towards earth dont happen that often
Yo, my second solution, yippee! But yeah, it’s seriously cool to see this get added to the game, I wonder if he’ll add other atmospheric elements, like the debris field in later updates… Though that may obscure the auroras, so who knows. I’m just glad that it’s in canon rather than just my fanfic.

Like when I joined the Forums I started talking about how Aurem made no sense and made some (at the time very rare) mentions of Hecate, then a few months later Aurem is retconned and Hecate is added.
I wrote about a Curse/blessing that gave the user incredible knowledge of magic in February of 2024 later that year the Nirvana blessing is written into the Lore doc.
Now I mention Auroras back in May, and here they are added to the game. I’m not accusing Vetex of anything, I want to be clear, or even suggesting these additions were based on my posts (that would be highly egotistical), but it’s just fascinating to me the coincidence of it happening more than four times since I joined the Forums.
Alas, I have no balancing skill, I only have an understanding of Greek myth, human history (I was mainly calling Aurem out for the “after humans invented mining” line in the lore doc,) and an OC that was partially based off the Magnus Archive (hence the Knowledge Curse.)
Well I mean, the game is a twist in Greek myth, and I’ve always been of the mind that it could do with more mythological influence, which is why I wrote about Hecate and added a bunch of Greek culture like Xenia, pantheon based profanity, and terms like Lingua Grecia into my fanfics. Also I read the Riordanverse when I was younger and then did a ton of my own research throughout the years of my life.
Can you write a proper explanation of the powerscaling and how the world even survives when the dude who blew up the world and killed 80% of humans isn’t even in top 10 beings?
Sorry mate, I’m more interested in a good story rather than who can beat superman or whatever (I know it’s more than that, I’m being intentionally reductionist for the sake of comedy.)
As for how humanity survived, I mean, it’s stated in text that Hecate’s soul shards protected specific areas of the planet, so that likely extended to the humans living in those areas as well.
As for Acheron not being in the top ten, the dude only had mirrors of the god’s true might, bro didn’t even have spirit energy, of course he’s outclassed by being who literally created the world and or commanded the cosmos. Like the thing is that the Olympians could be physically killed, but they were still responsible for the ordering and command of the cosmic proceedings, I think that outclasses any punk who’s gimmick is stealing what was only half of the power the Olympians had.
Tl:Dr the Olympians are like solar system in ability, but less than planet tier in durability which is why their bodies could be killed but y’know the Earth still rotates and stuff. This isn’t even mentioning the Primordials like Gaia, or the Eldritch creatures like Chaos and Creation.
Dude, Acheron (who by then had been at least as strong pre-Fracture iirc) lost to Peacekeeper, who also defeated Hades, yet loses easily to Apophis, one of the weaker dragonlords’.
I don’t think top ten is all gods. And if everyone there is stronger than the dude who wrecked the entire planet, I wonder how Typhon’s sneeze didn’t accidentally blow up the Dragon sea.
Okay but that begs the question, why and how? As of my limited sources, the magnetic north started in Canada and moved towards the North Pole, where it is now (from when they started documenting its positions to present day)
