Graced or Toughened?
I want to have high tier fish (so i can roll up to a fight with recovery IV), which is why i dont use ensaring
which of these enchants give me higher tier fish on average?
considering im NOT fishing in the dark sea
edit: for those who dont know, heres the argument on both sides
graced increases the chances of rare/uncommon fish, which means it has a higher base chance of being a higher tier
while toughened increases the chances of large fish, which indirectly ‘boosts’ the tier of a fish to be a higher tier
graced boosts the chances of both uncommon and rare fish
toughened only boosts the chances of larger fish, but they also have golden, which is a flat percentage increase
yeah, just go graced bronze rod, but it doesn’t make a lot of difference
it’s like 4% chance to get a rare compared to a 3% chance
with toughened it’s from 12% to 16 %
tbh, the only thing that really increases stuff is ensnaring on a bronze rod, which cuts down the waiting time by 1/3rd
the bottom part is the most important because I was getting frustrated with trying to figure out how multiplying a chance by a decimal number would increase it

the main reason why this is even a debate is because you refuse to fish in the dark sea for massive fish
you need an exotic fish for regen 4, that’s either a golden uncommon fish (1/10x1/30) or a massive uncommon fish (1/10x1/8) (base chances)
fishing in the dark sea would be the ‘tryhard’ stuff which i go out of my way to get
i need recov 2 or 3 during normal gameplay
or a giant rare fish (1/8x1/30)
or, and if you want to get technical, recov 5 also counts as recov 4
which means a massive rare fish (1/8x30)
or a golden rare fish (1/30x1/30)
in question
