What’s the deal with cannon fist?

It’s just, kind of objectively the worst.
Don’t get me wrong I love the meme, but it’s stats are garbage, you need cannonballs, a semi-limited resource, to use it at all, and it’s gimmick is the only reason it exists.

Why is it just ignored by the balance team? I think cannon fist should get some well deserved buffs, instead of being left behind by every other fighting style in the game

noooo it’s op be quiet I love it

If you love it, why don’t you want it to be buffed?

Fake baller

how are they gonna buff it

Infinite balls

In all seriousness though, if anybody can communicate with the balance team, PLEASE ask them to buff cfist. Just because it’s funny doesn’t mean it should be useless

I think the problem with cannon fist is that the rare cannon balls are actually pretty decent but annoying to reliably get while the cheaper ones kinda suck. But if they didn’t suck there wouldn’t be much reason to use the expensive stuff.

Actually wait, isn’t there a public discord for the bteam?
If somebody could ask them there it would be appreciated. Even a simple change like having infinite access to light balls so you aren’t forced to infinitely sink galleons would be amazing

If I remember correctly some balance team members said vetex declined some of cannon fists’s interesting suggestions like giving different balls unique interactions/synergies

Ok, but that’s not a simple buff

Cannon fist is the worst fighting style in literally every circumstance. Name a single situation where cannon fist would be better than the other fstyles except ship battles. It has no niche, it’s just kind of there.
Boxing has defense
Thermo has speed
Sailor has size
Basic has Jack of all trades
Iron leg has power
Cannon fist has ???

should get intensity

That’s just speed now bro

Still, cannon fist needs some sort of niche to fulfill, because currently its niche is ship combat, which isn’t useful whatsoever in a real fight.

meant increase it’s hitspeed brough

Ok, but that’s just discount thermo

Late game, it’s servicable, but you’re much better off using something like Iron Leg or Basic Combat for the most part. It inflicts bleeding no matter what, is reliant on cannonball damage (which defaults to weak-as-pillows Normal Cannonballs), and is generally functionally the same as the listed Fighting Styles. You DO get a great M1 with it, which I believe is the best in the game, but that’s it.

Early game, it’s ATROCIOUS. It’s a Fighting Style that is unlocked in the Cirrus Island chain, but requires exploring an optional island, requires you to deviate and defeat two miscellaneous NPCs, requires 80+ Strength (meaning it’s Berserker-only by the point it’s unlocked, so you’ll have to intentionally go back for it as a hybrid), and has an asinine Galleon cost. Sure, cannonballs can be found in sealed chests, but you’ll have to go out of your way for those as well, unless you happen to get a chart for a story island you haven’t visited or are at.

Basically, I hate how Cannon Fist is designed in correlation with its placement in-game, forcing the player to deviate for a while from the story to get a servicable amount of ammo. It’s kind of like the main way to get Spirit Weapons, but not as awful because it isn’t a required mechanic for some builds.

Exactly.

It has nothing to do, it is supposed to be a fighting style focused on ship combat, but there’s no reason to fill a slot with that when you can just use normal cannons.

Cannon fist may suck when it’s unlocked, but that’s not the issue. The issue is that it just isn’t useful for any reason. There’s no point to its existence, it needs a real gimmick, an actual reason to use it.

If only I had discord/suggestor…

I wonder if meta will see this…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Exploding Shells had a balance suggestion to replace Bleeding with Charred, which would’ve opened up some niche synergies with something like Thermo Fist.

It got denied.

That’s not a big enough buff.

Cfist either needs a HUGE buff, enough to make the management and lack of speciality worth it, or it needs a entire rework.
