A thing that’s been bugging me for a while is humans in Pokémon. Most Pokémon are basically animals, but Deoxys and Beeheeyem are aliens.
Ultra Beasts are all extradimensional beings, but they’re all considered Pokémon.
Humans are weird, since they don’t feel that special while literally everyone else is. It just feels odd since you have all the animals on earth, aliens, and deities/extradimensional beings who all have special powers or are unique in some way, but humans are completely normal.
Humans are either losers or average as fuck in every form of media with other things out there. Because, to us, being human is nothing special so being human and having that be “special” is a little weird. We usually like to scale our fictional worlds up instead of scaling it down. Pokemon battles aren’t glorified bug fights, they are battles between powerful monsters. Humans are just dull by comparison probably to make these cool monster fights all the more cooler. It wouldn’t be the same if a person could just suplex a Garchomp and call it a day.
Humans need to be average to set the bar. We are human so we know what it’s like to just be a regular human and the standards/limitations associated with it. If Pokemon could be beaten without the use of other pokemon it’d take away the joy of battle since we could just beat them ourselves. It’d be like watching a fight between two dogs compared to watching a fight between two bears, one is just simply cooler and more impressive than the other and we humans are that set bar to determine it.
I’d assume its because pokemon and animals are different things. We know that some animals exist in the pokemon world like just straight-up normal birds for example, not pidgeys or anything just actual birds, so its safe to say humans evolved from animals and are also normal like other animals. Pokemon are just completely different from animals and operate on magic/futuristic tech and shit so that’s why humans seem so normal
In the case of the Kadabra species, theyre actually just normal humans who randomly turn into Pokemon
Actually, a lot of Pokemon were former humans
I’d assume that when they turned into Pokemon, they retained their former affinity for humanity
