Hello everyone, I have a duped file of my first ever save file in WoM. However, I want to make a new file, but I do not have an extra save file except for the duped file. It is a 7th Generation file, and it has a couple of neat items that I would like to transfer over, however I am unsure of when trading will come back.
I’m sorry!!! Votes were reset because I messed up the poll for less bias
Delete the file right here, right now
Transfer items when trading comes back (then delete)
In my opinion, if the game screws you over and erases progress on a file, it’s only fair to get some compensation back. But the admins and mods do encourage deletion of any dupe buuut ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
honestly imo, i’d say go with transfer items when trading comes back. the reason is that game mods can’t restore your files, so its logical to get “compensation back” as jumbo stated. you wouldn’t want to lose your file and then not get anything from it when there was items on your old file that just vanishes like that.
i had my second file get duped but it wasnt duped it was wiped and it wasnt mu second file it was my first and it wasny on world of magic it was skyrim
I’m not sure what to do. You can wait for trading to come back but I thought duplicated items (same id) were going to be wiped if someone can correct me.
as far as i know there is no registered id for each item, or atleast there is no way to tell if an item is duped or original. since the inventory are written like iron_armor(tomahawk) = 10 or something like that. so if its duped it would just be another iron_armor(tomahawk) = 10 and since the tags is similar to the original it would just stack if it is in a single inventory. i dont know if this is exactly how the inventory system works but if i remember correctly vetex mentioned something in the past about writing the data like that to reduce save file size so it would be read faster (faster inventory loading) and other optimization thing.
i dont really know though, maybe im just imagining things.
well by transferring them over you’re duping the items. you should just delete the duped file.
wouldn’t really be fair if a file with a sunken sword got duped onto a level 7 file with nothing of value then you transferred the sword over as compensation. not saying this is what happened to you but you can see the problem
If there’s ever a way to prove that x item got dupped, there might easily be consequences. I’m not really sure such system can even exist but better be safe than sorry.
