What should I get out of my gaming backlog?

Got banned for a few days from AO for renown farming with friends (likely from us trying to take over Silverhold. Silver lining is that we did it. I need to take a break from it regardless because it’s made up most of what I’ve played since it released), and I figured that I should get rid of my backlog while waiting the timer out. My backlog’s got some decent games and then some games that would get me Crushing Judgment-ed if I said I hadn’t played them yet.

== PC (Steam) Backlog ==

  • SoulCalibur VI (Not sure if this counts, since I’ve been trying to get through the tutorials. If you’re going to play something as complicated as it, please play with an actual Gamepad like the DualShock, trying to understand the keyboard’s controls is like outsmarting a calculator).

  • Touhou 15.5 ~ Antinomy of Common Flowers - CrimsonCreate, please don’t kill me. I just haven’t played this one too much. I cleared the Reimu/Yukari, Marisa/Koishi, Byakuren/Miko, Ichirin/Futo, and I belive Nitori/Whoever She’s Paired With storylines, but that’s about it.

  • Dream Logical World - Touhou fangame that I got pretty far in, but still haven’t 1cc’d. I refuse to get anything but 1ccs in Touhou games, and I’ve only gotten to Stage 5 with Sakuya/Reisen.

== Switch ==

  • TLoZ: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom - Yes, I have both. Yes, I haven’t played either. The only Zelda games I’ve played are I, II, Awakening, and the Ocarina of Time demo in SSBB’s Masterpieces. The former three were also on the limited-edition Zelda Game and Watch, so do they really count?

  • Kirby Star Allies - I think I’ve gotten to World 3, but that’s it.

  • Live-a-Live - I got hyped as hell when it was announced for an official English translation, but I stopped before even getting to the first boss of Pogo’s chapter. Then again, I got Pokemon Scarlet and Violet the same Xmas morning, and I sold my soul to that franchise the exact nanosecond I was born.

  • Mario Party Superstars - I don’t have IRL friends, and no IRL friends means Mario Party is very sad at best.

  • Metroid Dread - “Hey Nintendo fans! This is another Nintendo fan here! You can tell I love Nintendo by my ability to buy merchandise! I’ve never played Metroid!

  • New Pokemon Snap - Honestly impressed I kept playing Sword over starting this one.

  • Pikmin 3 Deluxe - My first introduction to the Pikmin games was Hey! Pikmin on the 3DS and I have never recovered.

  • Sonic Mania Plus - The controls just felt too loose to me, so I didn’t get past the first act of Green Hill Zone.

  • Super Mario 3D All-Stars - I think I got the first star in SM64 and started Galaxy, but I haven’t touched it since, and I never opened up Sunshine.

  • Game Builder Garage - I wanted it because I thought it would help me out with game design, since I plan to get into that career. Issue is I haven’t played it, so how would I know?

oh my goodness

Yes. It’s time to get to work

Live A Live is the fucking goat pick it up again and don’t fucking think of picking up trash ao until you’re done with it

Do try TotK, the game is one of the best I’ve ever tried playing. From the exploration to worldbuilding to the atmospheres they try setting up, it’s all incredible.

You won’t regret trying a mainline pikmin game. And pikmin 3 is arguably the easiest one in the series so far, too. Short, but sweet is how I’d summarize story mode. Very fun game.

Poor thing, I’ve heard that one wasn’t a favorite among the fanbase.

need to play botw to understand totk lore and such, tho playing these back to back would be a bit eeeehhhhhhh.

awesome game but you will NOT know the story lol.

easily the best out of 1 2 and 3 (haven’t played 4 yet), in terms of mechanics atleast.

literally just better to play those emulated tbh, especially mario 64 with the pc port. but other than that these are obvious classics that you should give a try.
