What should I prepare/acknowledge before getting to dark sea?

Since I am really new and never been in dark sea by myself before, I wants to know if there is some things I need to acknowledge before getting to dark seas. Probably something as enemies/unfortunate situations I can face in there?

You may have your boat destroyed by a tentacle monster 20 seconds in.

You may be obliterated by a shadow tornado you cannot see.

Make sure you use the brace button for waves, helps a decent bit

Movement speed jewels to make getting around significantly less insufferable and an absolute truckload of soap for clearing water poisoning on the go that you can buy from the tailor.

well since vetex nuked galleons repairing, get cargo or ask the shipwright to fill your ship’s supplies beforehand

when you enter the dark sea, your only way back is by sensing and following the giant teal orb back

the dark sea is seperated in 6 different layers, layer 1 has 0 insanity, layer 2 has 1, layer 3 has 2, etc etc. I recommend you stay in layer 1 (you can do that by sailing into the dark sea and then sailing with the teal blue orb to your left/right)

there’s more stuff you gotta watch out for but thats only when you go into layer 2+ (insanity 1+)

oh and the beaches give a shit load of pearls watch out for that

Bring these:

  1. Lot of revealing potion or whatever, just not gel.
  2. Clearsight for convenience, not mandatory.
  3. Luck if you got stocks.
  4. Warding if you dont have any and just dont want to deal with Insanity effect.
  5. Balanced Meal. Make sure its the buffet kind with a pretty long duration. Trust me you gonna need it.
  6. Harming Vial at the ready whenever you got caught in Waves
  7. Soap, around 20 at least
  8. Full ship supplies. Add extra cargo if you want.
  9. Perfect Waterbreathing potion or whatever. Have one in case you run out of stamina when swimming or for some reason you climb down instead of up the water. its bug btw.
    Extra:
  10. Wear full armor set to prevent beast from killing you instantly.
  11. Pick low height island for efficiency. I pick high mountains for the love of the game. I miss climbing spire.
  12. Always be prepared for Kraken.
  13. I recommend I2 ranges if you want loots. Further ranges only if you wanna try your luck. I don’t recommend as you said you new.

If you’re a mage or magic hybrid, you don’t need clearsight unless you’re looking for epicenter.
Sensing will spot any islands and structures for you easily.

If not, clearsight 5 cauldrons will save you alot of time.

Ship Preparation:

  • Make sure you have full supplies, or your run is screwed from the start

  • Get your all of your deckhand’s loyalty up to Devoted or Dedicated and give each of them two Frayed Lead Lines, having them all will reduce weather damage by 60% (if I remember correctly) which will MASSIVELY decrease the rate at which you burn through supplies

  • Get a Master Shipbuilder, then try to save supplies for when the ability is active. This will again raise your supply efficiency a ton

You pretty much have to leave the Dark Sea once you run out of supplies to repair with, so this’ll draw out that time as long as possible

Other preparation:

  • Buy a ton of Soap from Tailor NPCs at islands, you can use it to clear waterpoisoning without backtracking all the way to your boat

Nearly all of the professions are useful in some capacity for the dark sea, but I would recommend either stealth, to avoid and or severely wound Atlanteans, or seafaring to increase your repair efficiency.

You need a brig with cannons, maybe mortars.

Probably at least 15k hp (mine is 16k but 130 speed with cannons and mortars)

On insanity 1 you can get water poisoning which is cured by soap or baths in brigs

Monsters will be lvl 100 (first few ranges) - lvl 400 (far reaches)

Range 1 is insanity 0 and is easiest to farm sealeds in if ur unsure about range 2

Imo range 2 (insanity 1) is the best for sealeds

Most stuff (acrimonies, hecates, etc) is in range 4 (insanity 3)

Only go range 5 (insanity 4) for epicenter

Get warding gear OR pots

If a kraken jumps you, run unless u want kraken meat or other kraken loot

If an atlantean ship jumps you, defeat it. They WONT stop chasing you (I think)

Diatrys or theuegist gives warding, run that with hp & movement jewels for qol
