What skills do you think will work on which weapons?

With weapons planned to get customization with scrolls eventually, I got to thinking about what would be compatible with what.

Obvious

  • Rapiers would probably get Whirlwind and Tiger Rush from swords, along with Tempest from Greatswords. I think they’d also get Piercing Gale from staves.
  • Swords get Piercing Strikes from Rapiers and Tempest from Greatswords.
  • Spears and Tridents get Piercing Strikes. I forgot the name, but they already have the same attack in concept.
  • Greatswords, Greataxes, and Greathammers get Raging Impact from Hammers, Maces, and Axes.

Less Obvious

  • Muskets get Knocking Blitz from staves. Hear me out; both are slightly taller than the player, are somewhat oblong objects, and Gun skills wouldn’t have to use a bullet theoretically. Maybe give them Piercing Gale too.
  • Greatswords and Greataxes get Seismic Slash from the Lion’s Halberd. I could see somebody argue that it’d take away uniqueness from Strength Weapons, but if that was the case, the LoL would have its own skill too.
  • Most non-ranged weapons get Spiraling Fury from Daggers. You can use any weapon and swing around randomly to get the same effect. Again, Muskets might be the only ranger weapon that would work here.

Swords would definitely get it. The logic I’m using for stuff like hammers and whatnot is that you could make the same general motions with them with nearly the same or the exact same effectiveness. The description also reads “swing wildly,” which is a simple way to use basically any weapon.

Do weapon affinities affect your damage? If you put piercing gale on a rapier, you’d be dealing less damage than if you just used a stave, right?

No clue, since all we know is that some weapon skills can be slapped onto others.

wonder if axe throw ( throw with gravity, for some reason ) and weapon throw are considered different skill or did Vetex just want the axe to be quirky for some reason

Given that the axe has an arc and the others don’t, Vetex was probably just feeling funky when programming it.

Maybe staves could also have striking gale from the greataxe and sword draw: mountain wind from greatsword, maybe flying phoenix?
guns should get a bullet variant of rain of arrows, it would be pretty cool

katanas could also get that double slash thingy, along with shining cycle and tiger rush

Piercing shot on bow, along with rain of “arrows” (bullets) on dual flintlocks, plunderers, and MAYBE single flintlock

I think dagger could possible get primal swipe, while claws get spiraling fury

Possibly single flintlock could get piercing gale and a lower damage lower range lower endlag version of piercing shot, same with bow.

Personally I want spiraling fury on sunken sword because it would look cool

would be funny if beast instinct is compatible to swords. If Argos can do it with devourer, then its possible

Katana type weapons with tiger rush could go well with flash strike

Dual flintlocks with piercing shot would be a good replacement for plunderers for the people with weapon build that isn’t a warrior (conjurers, warlords, knights and savants)
