yeah i don’t know, (20 characters)
if youre referring to the optimization update
most people dont report a significant difference in their performance
if youre wondering why people are pissed about that, there you go
By my understanding, there were minimum performance boosts, despite the update’s name.
Ript used the
power of A.I.
for his part in the update.
On a note completely and utterly unrelated to the prior point, the game also now contains numerous, severe bugs that it didn’t before. Almost as if some lying excuse for a “developer” broke open the code and used a notoriously unreliable system to try and “fix” the game as quickly as possible.
Good, AI is really useful in game development - granted his usage was subpar but that doesn’t disprove AI of its usability.
granted a fair few of said bugs likely originated from vetex’s subsequent server slight recode which introduced at least 3 severe bugs he had to fix.
It is not entirely fair to blame the entire update being a flop on one person, especially as said update was never meant to be a ‘everything is optimized’ update but rather a baseline for the future optimizations
There was a load of patch notes and hype regarding it, basically every day ript was saying “Oh yeah you’re gonna be playing at lightning speeds and lag is a thing of the past” until there was a developer conflict and one of the main parts of the update didn’t come out so most people didn’t report a change in performance, much less a significant one. I think there’s more to it but that’s the basics
There were even some people who reported it as worse
The only thing that prob actually got optimized by the end was the terrain destruction (the lag ‘spikes’ are way less intense now, still noticeable though)
opening inventory is faster now woohoo
Performance changes were all across the board.
As far as I’m concerned, via the powers of voodoo magic (I don’t know anything about roblox coding and optimization) the optimization update split the workload between CPU and GPU.
This actually was very beneficial to me because I am an edge case scenario with a high-performance CPU but an outdated GPU. My idle performance was almost doubled from the update going from 40 ish to 80. Problem is, not everyone is me. Laptops as an example had basically zero change in performance since most laptops use integrated anyways
Aside from that though, literally nothing felt like it changed (aside from the myriad of bugs, I am still backflipping while doing magic leaps sometimes). The stuff that was inefficient before still feels inefficient, just now instead of dropping me from 40fps to 10fps it’s dropping me from 80fps to 20fps
Inventory changes I guess were noticeable but reception is also mixed. Base inventory feels better and fine but dear lord the trading inventory got butchered what the hell happened?
good thing im self sufficient and don’t actively look for things to trade for
common sense, Vetex isn’t aware of many optimization methods, Ript was.
Said optimizations weren’t meant to be a help-all tool, it was a baseline for future optimization updates to come - which of course - we’ll never get.
Mhm, latency is really annoying right now - which doesn’t really count on FPS - rather on how the server is being handled.
As is pretty obvious; the server isn’t being handled well.
For my case it’s moreso a placebo, the inventory loading seems faster but it is not.
The only reason I see it as as faster is because I don’t freeze everytime I open the inventory, rather now I just lag for the same amount of time I would’ve been frozen for.
Lack of testing, ignorance, shitty coding, et cetera.
It’s a staple for every new or ‘reworked’ feature.
