What was classic Roblox to you?

Ironically, it seems like the only thing that hasn’t changed about Roblox over the years is people asking for the old Roblox back. This is because classic Roblox isn’t a time period, it’s an idea. What was classic Roblox to you?

I started playing roblox back in 2015, so I’d have to say it would be either that or 2016 (2016 was better due to there being a greater abundance of quality games).

Pretty much just get rid of r15 and rthro, and added guests, singular game events, and tix back then roblox would be set.

2010:

  • Reward trumpet sounds anytime you got an achievement (which you would usually get from a square pad on the ground)
  • Tix being a currency
  • Forcefield was a rainbow square outline of your character
  • The games dominating the home page was “survive the X”, sword fighting, tycoons, and zombie games.
  • No body packages existed, only thing that was different would be your head
  • Guests
  • On-site forums
  • No copyright: people would use Sephiroth’s theme and Halo music in their games constantly
  • Caramelldansen

Survive the disasters and non-p2w tycoons with Tobu music in it

And arcane odyssey

:frcryin:

god damn you just took me down memory lane

This wasn’t the case back in the good old days

I kinda miss guests…

Guests and Tix existed, R15 wasn’t even announced yet, games like AA weren’t broken and Twisted Murderer and The Mad Murderer were relevant. Not to mention Prison Life was the most popular game and Phantom Forces wasn’t revamped and had the old black UI.

I remember when PF was back in beta, good times

indeed

yeah because you weren’t allergic to dry grass and you were looking for hay

the year i joined aka 2016

2016 was a banger year tbh, so many great games came out in that single year

I joined in late 2014 but I’m pretty sure I only really started playing in 2015-2016 (I didn’t even have Internet when I made my account)

Anyway, the most popular games were, as far as I remember, basically Work at a Pizza Place, Natural Disaster Survival and tycoons and obbies on whatever was trending (new iPhone, hoverboard, selfie sticks, minions due to the movie, emojis, etc.). Other than that, there was tix and guests but not a ton of players in popular games. I remember the most popular game, Work at a Pizza Place, having a stable 2000 players, but then, during my first egg hunt, the event game had like 16k players which was incredible to me.

Since some people are listing what they would like to come back, for me it’s definitely tycoons. Not well made ones like Miners’ Haven with a ton of rebirths and stuff, the cheapest tycoons ever made. Those where the gears were super unbalanced and where you could cheese your way inside other people’s tycoons with skill and bugs. Those where you could slay the entire server with the first sword because the other players were dumb. Now obviously tycoons like this still exist, but they aren’t nearly as popular and they don’t change their theme often if at all.

Speaking of that, the other thing I want back is a popular section where games actually change. The most popular games stopped changing around the time Jailbreak came out. Before that, you could get a couple of new cheap tycoons and obbies every week or so simply by checking the first and maybe second row of the popular section. You can’t do that anymore, and even if some games change, it’s to be replaced with those clicker games we like to call simulators. While some simulators are alright, the majority is terrible. They aren’t as cheap as tycoons but they are insanely boring. You either spam click or move around, or both.

Now about tix…
There’s isn’t really a reason to get tix back. I didn’t like their removal at first but it totally makes sense now that I realize how many flaws they had. Basically, they were a free robux generator available on every single account. You could have a ton of alts and abuse the system.

games didn’t use too many custom features; movement, our characters, the camera etc stayed at the default

How did I forget about that

i started playing in late 2016, just after tix were removed, right before they changed the logo to a cheez it. to me classic roblox games are town of robloxia, super simon says and meepcity
