I understand where both of you are coming from here. I was too harsh in my section about PvPers, but insulting me back isn’t helping. As I said earlier, I don’t want this topic to get toxic. Just call me out for it instead of making the problem worse.
If you’re gonna call me part of the problem, please explain why. That way, I can at least acknowledge that I’m doing something wrong.
maybe im remembering wrong or got lucky but wom was way better community-wise
i think the answer is that AO has more incentive for killing people which brings in unpleasant people like it does in basically every game
also pvp being the only significant replayability while the replayable PvE content is most helpful for getting stuff to do PVP with
i hate the “its the pvpheads” reasoning people tend to do because thats a major generalization and only furthers the toxicity youre claiming to hate here, but pvp incentive is undeniably a part of it
it sucks but i dont think we can do anything about it
edit: i also think nothing is being done to make people want to be less toxic + AO has way more players than WoM did
way more people got invested into AO than people who got invested into WoM and more toxic players have stayed for longer
people were way more chill in wom and people who did try and fight me were doing it in a goofy and in character way. the ao community doesn’t really have that charm anymore
I agree that wasn’t a great way to put things. Generalizing the PvP playerbase is probably the reason that things are getting off the rails. When I say PvPheads, I mean people who only care about the PvP to the point that it affects PvE players negatively. I’ll try my best to reword the original post to be more respectful to PvP players.
