I agree with most of of this post but I gotta hard disagree here. Brewing is SUPER important for so many features. Waterbreathing, stat resets, revealing, invisibility, warding (for the dark sea), SO MANY QoL features. These go a long way to making the game better and more interesting to play.
I am a huge fan of cooking, it’s a large part of the PvE experience for me. I just have a weird brain that adores mixing and matching ingredients in games, and AO’s cooking is actually one of the most fun systems for that which I’ve seen.

Okay maybe I have a bit of a problem, but the point is, these features are a huge part of how I enjoy the game, no matter how unnecessary you think they are. Kind of ironic for a post largely about the importance of PvErs being able to play the game how they want uninterrupted, while at the same time dissing my own personalized PvE experience
I would be more willing to agree with you on jewelcrafting, as I find it very tedious and such a luck-based slog. But the unique effects on the jewels can be fun to play around with and allow for customizing unique stats that couldn’t be found on regular armor, like water breathing and energy regen.
Deckhands… Okay yeah, they’re unnecessary, but when you get them maxxed it makes sailing so much more fun. I like them too much to regret them being added.

2-3 weeks ago I got chased 3 people in a row so I stopped playing on my plasma conjuerer file to keep my galleons safe. But even then I still got attacked. Never thought I could relate to this so much😭
Okay yeah I agree that brewing is important but I felt like if it was just jewelcrafting and cooking it’d be incomplete. One of my OCs would be a lot more boring without it, too.
I mean, we went a few months with zero brewing, a few more with only waterbreathing, then finally got the mostly completed feature, and then the dark sea added the last missing ingredients. So actually we have a pretty good idea.

I dont really know if this was said before, but here are some things i think the game can do for most of the problems i’ve seen reading this post.
by just expanding the concept of Elysium or whathever its called by making it so (by example) once you reach __ level and get __ item / potion you’ll get some kind of free access to comunnal elysium servers, 1v1’s and (probably) 2v2’s if the game doesnt has them already. Maybe even an “elo” system for those who really want to get something via figthing but that at the same time doesn’t makes you beter in any other way compared to other players (just some titles and cosmetics ).
Making et not only by guild bases is a good idea by itself, but we can do more, maybe the option to create them in a way they’re underground or underwater, hidden for the rest if what we all want is a place to chill.
Maybe making certain zones like that one with the story teller something accesible for players to talk and / or trade and stuff as an area in the nimbus sea would fit, idk.

It has probably been said before but I really think that this game needs a PvP toggle, having forced PvP is what allows the toxicity to get this bad in a lot of cases. When toxic people have access to pvp and know you can’t nope out of it they WILL abuse it.
PvP can be fun when it’s something like a duel or a scenario you agree upon before hand. It is NOT fun when I get ganked by 7 clan members at once because I am doing treassure charts on their claimed island or someone being hellbent on fighting me because I am trying to farm dark sea chests.
Just me, but i like getting hunted, assuming they actually fight and don’t run, and arn’t being toxic about it. I feel like the pvp is getting worse because no one has much to do.
Solutions
- Make non clan servers a no pvp server (choice to join one or not)
- Elysium is free (doesn’t stop the ops)
- Some kinda ranked/unranked pvp (prob won’t stop the ops)
