I might get crucified for this take but in my honest opinion the storyline annoys me the most, then lag second. Not much has happened and the only cool moment was when we were in Ravenna sliming Calvus out. I know hype moments and aura do not make a good story, but when you are playing Roslop, it is hard to really convey shii outside of that. I think it might just be a consequence of roblox as a platform, I’m not too sure.
Also as suspected the content thing is the #1 voted. AO isn’t the type of game where it can be played over and over again (good example: Minecraft) i know i just compared one of the #1 top games oat to AO but that’s something game devs should really aspire for
For a healthy community, updates got to be more frequent. That way theres more of a bustle and influx of diverse people who are interested in diff things (pve story pvp) rather than it thawing out to mostly just PvPers during dry sprouts of content
The only true deal breaker for me would be if I feel like I have to spend money when I didn’t before, or if I feel like too much effort is going to microtransactions compared to what’s available in game. If I’m suddenly getting half the rewards I would be getting if I spent money, or if the answer to “where did you get that cool vanity item” is “the cash shop” too many times, I’ll walk away.
No he’s displeased if the game would turn into another one of those “10% off!” “Limited time only” gamepass games that gave a clear advantage to those who bought a gamepass over those who did not spend money. I believe he’s referring to loot boxes when he was talking about the vanity or just the idea that a regular cosmetic was locked out because you had to pay for it. Personally I couldn’t agree more. AO backing from those types of micro-transactions is one of the things that make it special.
You only said “PvP” as an option but didn’t specify what type of PvP, whether it be the toxic element or just how it is currently so I’ll just put this in other. Now I don’t know if this counts as my least favourite but when I think about it rationally it’s basically tied with grinding for gear.
It’s just annoying because everytime I join a server (not much because I’m playing other games but the few times it’s still annoying) I always look at who’s in it, hear every singular noise to make sure nobody is gonna kill me and who I should avoid. I’ll just look at some guy and it goes like this: Clan, 1k player kills, 500k bounty, See which clan it is etc. Essentially this is my regular routine everytime I boot up the game to make sure that I’m not gonna get my ass kicked and it’s much harder when they always run max-size warrior builds that have AoE’s that would make the tsar bomb blush. To sum it up, check who’s in the server, see a ship, sail the other way, redo and repeat.
Sorry for making the wall of text longer but here’s an encounter I one time had and while I’m aware it’s one of those things that’s incredibly annoying: I joined a server and saw this one guy a clan, I complimented the clan name as it was a reference to Warhammer and I went along my way. He then proceeded to gank me at palo, attack my ship and then go along his merry day. Keep in mind I complimented his clan name BEFORE that happened, and if you thought that was the end, nuh uh. I was doing Fort Castrum (the only person doing it so he specifically aimed for me) and then instead of giving up and leaving, he sank my ship and left because he couldn’t comprehend anything else but making other people’s day worse. Anyways that’s my reasons so go ahead and roast me for “not loving pvp!1! it’s so balanced!1!”
I mean him ganking you and you complimenting him can’t really be connected, you don’t really have proof
For all you know you did something to upset the clan leader in the past (on accident, but the clan leader took offense) and he put your user as KoS so when the ganker saw your name he just ganked you, ignoring the compliment (or he didn’t see it as one)
To an extent, yes. It is better to find vanity items through in-game activities rather than spending real money to obtain them. Extra accessory vanity slots are fine in my eyes as it enhances the vanity side of the game without making those without it feel left out. Animation packs are fine in my eyes because they’re a separate thing from what you’d find in game, and you can still look good without them. If all the good vanity cost real money to use and the people just playing the game got scraps at best, that’s not an incentive to spend money for me, that’s an incentive to stop caring about making my characters look good.
it’s scary how many ppl prefer faster updates that feel rushed and baseless rather than a near-one year update happening right now comparable to the second coming of Christ.
if by faster updates you mean like 3 month or 2 month waits for updates, then yes thats normally the norm when games update, games dont normally take a year to update, sure its more content and alot to be excited about but a year of no updates is a bad thing and one of the reasons the game is at 1.1k players and not something like 5k-7k.
5k-7k players is what i would expect meta games to be maintaining, not ao
the game actually retains more players now than say before empires update, where there were only 300 people on non-peak hours, and it’s been super consistent for the last half-year.
the game is in a better state too since more replayability keeps the consistent player count
the only reason it went up from 300 was because of consistant updates though? that number count was just an example of why quicker updates help the game more. also by meta games do you mean like anime games, tycoons? or like sims? because i still think AO fits in the meta because its an rpg and rpgs for the most part do well on roblox. anyway my whole point is i dont think its scary players are fiending for updates because its been a whole year and the average game gets updated like every 2 or 3 months. i mean vetex did say more consistent updates will be coming after FR so im hyped for those its a point in the right direction.
well, objectively the reason i am not playing the game right now is because there is no content and the update is still over three months away, so idk what to tell you
