What's up with the freedrock guy

how did he die?? was he killed by the kingslayer THEN absorbed the blessing or did he really die in a battle against the king slayer?? was he killed by durza’s explosion??? when did he die?? is his debut in AA’s first sea retconned?? was durandal really his sword??? why is this random nobody relevant enough to get an entire npc talking about him??

we don’t know

he probably died after getting the blessing because otherwise he would be undead which he wasn’t although azarel’s story suggests it might’ve been after so maybe it was but also it’s an old story so maybe the details aren’t accurate so idk

somewhat recently but we don’t know for sure

don’t think so, although we can’t know for sure

I’m pretty sure either tech or vetex confirmed that it used to be his sword before it got corrupted or something

because he’s cool

First user of one of the only few blessings. Also he did help the peacekeeper

out of your six answers, four have been ‘‘we don’t know’’…

hes only there for hype and aura

Join the riddle server. We have no idea either but we are Thinking About It

vetex thinks mythical dragons are hype and aura when neviro is right there

There is a very long story about him, but half of it is retconned and the other half is pure speculation. He’s one of the main figures of the riddles. Yeah, Durandal was his sword, which was lost and corrupted by Hades (source trust me)

i know who he is, i’m just curious on why is his story so scrambled
i’m getting deja vu

in a large-scale war against the cross kingdom, eventually dying to the king slayer

he was gifted the blessing by i think hera and then much later after many deaths azazel says he was finally felled by the king slayer

whenever octavius woke up in lore (which we don’t really know), but fairly recently id imagine (speculating like a week or two before the events of AO take place just cause of what hale says)

probably not, no reason for it to be

yes

because neat little lore tidbits + relevancy with caesar

so ur telling me the cross kingdom is from the seven seas, and this war happened during the events of AA, and that the kingslayer’s still around

Like others have said we don’t know much about Freedrock cause his story before AO was already vague and then all the retcons happened but just to clear up the little that we do know:

  • He got the Blessing of Lazarus AFTER dying to the forces of the Kingslayer

  • So this of course means that the whole Roland vs Cross Kingdom stuff mainly happened during the Golden Age of Magic since Hera was around to bless him

    • I’m sure the Roland Kingdom persisted after the War of the Gods (dunno about the Cross Kingdom and Kingslayer) but it was almost certainly destroyed in the Fracture

i’m glad someone went in game to confirm because the wiki is mostly wrong on his backstory

freedrock is alive by the way never listen to vetex and tech. make up your own lore. trust me bro

fr everyone knows hera just made another lazarus blessing and gave it to caesar so that she could gauge her great great great great (idk how many greats) grandchilds (silas/player character) potential

or actually we could be from one of zeus many many many many many many many sneaky links so maybe not

i personally disagree, because i feel like he wouldn’t be called the “eternal man” if he hadn’t had lazarus before then.

the following point about the myth, is, well, a myth, which we know is now false since we know he’s dead (or at least died fairly recently)

also considering the previous statements azarel says, it seems hes implying that this final battle is where he finally died for good.

overall the very vague wording makes none of this confirmed but looking at context clues i feel that he’s trying to say freedrock got the blessing beforehand, and then died to kingslayer

but then a myth sprouted saying he was still alive maybe to keep peoples spirits up or something? inspire the youth?

Freedrock never actually had the lazarus blessing he just had a very long line of descendants that all looked identical to him

I agree with what you said about the wording being vague, but the full, uninterrupted flow of Azarel’s story makes it seem pretty clear to me that Freedrock’s first death against the Kingslayer & Cross Kingdom was the one that led to his granting of the Lazarus Blessing:

However, it is said that this man defended the Roland Kingdom for decades against the mounting forces of the Cross Kingdom, led by one called the Kingslayer…no name mentioned. The eternal man perished in a final stand so grand, it caught the attention of Hera, wife to the King of Olympus. Some say he was blessed, others cursed, but the myth goes that he roams the world to this day[…]

Freedrock defends Roland Kingdom against the Kingslayer and Cross Kingdom for decades

He dies in a final stand against them that was so grand it caught Hera’s attention

Hera blesses him with the Lazarus Blessing

But even outside of the story flow, the key thing there is Hera having witnessed this specific “final” stand. Considering Vetex has stated that basically all the gods except for a couple died in the War of the Gods, this final stand almost certainly had to have happened before Y227, making it impossible to have been the one that just finally killed him

Now I won’t deny the possibility that the Kingslayer was still the one who finally killed him since Azarel mentions an eternal rival, plus the Torren connections. But it can’t have been that specific final stand in Azarel’s story since, again, Hera was alive to witness that one which places it over 1600 years ago

I was about to ping Skittles before remembering that Morrock and Freedrock are different people.
